How do i get the timing belt back on my chrysler lhs 1996

YOU NEED TO COMPRESS THE BELT TENSIONER IN A VISE STICK A PAPER CLIP IN IT TO HOLD IT IN UNTIL YOU GET TIMING BELT IN PLACE.THEN YOU PUT TENSIONER IN.DONT REMOVE PAPER CLIP OR UNLOAD IT UNTIL YOU GET TIMING MARKS ON CAMSPROCKETS AND CRANK SHAFT LINE UP RIGHT.IF YOUR BELT TENSIONER IS THE ORIGINAL I WOULD REPLACE IT.YOU ALSO NEED A MANUAL.MAKE SURE TIMING MARKS IS RIGHT.IF NOT YOU GOING TO HAVE VALVES AND PISTON DAMAGE.

96 sebring 2.5 sounds like ign timing is off

Sorry for the delay.

I am personally going back to answer your unanswered question. I do not know if you still need the answer, but I am going to answer it in case you still do.

You cannot correctly "Time" that engine using the old method of a Timing Light. You have to take the front of the engine (where the Pulleys are) OFF and take the Timing Cover Off inorder to gain access to the Timing Belt and Marks.

Click on the following direct Link. It has the Timing Belt/MARK(S) Diagrams that you will need, complete with Instructional and Directional Diagrams.

Again my apologies...

Crank mark is obvious but cam marks arent. There are two notches in the tin timing covers behind the cam gears. At about the 2 oclock positions
