Question about 1991 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

I have 1991 Chevy S-10 Blazer, 4.3L with about 174,000 miles. It had been starting with no problem then one day when I went to start it, it won't start. Cranks over good, then found out that no fuel was coming up to the throttle body. Thought the fuel filter might be clogged, but nope. I had removed the tank and removed the pump and all. Hooked up the pump with fuel in a bucket to see if it would pump, I might get a drop or 2 or fuel. Now I am being told that either the oil pressure switch or fuel pump relay could be bad. Is there a way for me to check those before I go and buy a new fuel pump? Thanks for any help.

If you had the pump working, it should pump about a cup [ 8 oz. ] or more in 15 seconds. sounds like the pump is bad or the inlet screen is clogged. the pressure for this system should be at least 13 PSI. I wouldn't test it in a bucket of fuel as this is a fire hazzard. good luck.

if it shuts off while driving and will not start back up for at least 10 minutes, then it may be the crank sensor doing this. is check engine light on! if so get it scanned to find problem code. if no scanner, auto-zone will scan for free. if light is on. CPS symtoms are: car dies and won't re-start till it cools down, or won't start at all. good-day ! crank sensor timing will be out of sync. it controls timing and sends info to pcm.

No Fuel To Throttle Body On A 1991 Chevy Blazer S-10, 4.3L

ok, well as for the relay, yes there is one in your under hood fuse box....or inside the drivers door...but if you don't hear the pump, fear the worst, it may be dead.....happens ALOT.....check and change the relay, about $10, then if nothing, time for a new pump.

Engine cranks but won't start

I firstly would check relay. You can use an ohmmeter to check the resistance of the relay. If you get a reading, it is good, If not it is bad. Than disconnect fuel pump wire harness and do the same.
