Question about 1989 Ford F 350

1 Answer

Ford 460 - no spark

I've got a 460 in a 38' RV. The previous owner left the ignition key on for a few days and burned up something. I've replaced the distributor (with pick-up module), the coil, the ignition module (on firewall), and still no spark. I've got 12v at BOTH terminals of the coil, but can't find a ground problem either. HELP!!

Bought a car and the engine key doesn't open then door

If the ignition key does not open either door, the previous owner could have replaced the ignition lock.
The dealer may be able to cut you a door key from the VIN number.

check the ignition timing with a timing light. If that is good, check the pickup coil in the distributor and the ignition coil. I think the ignition coil can be replaced if it is faulty. But if the pickup coil is bad, the entire distributor may have to be replaced. A remanufactured one won't be that expensive.
