Problems with window glass mechanism

Hi,
I have a 1988 Lincoln Mk7 LSC. It runs very well but now I have a problem with the driver's window glass mechanism which does not goes down and remains at the full up possition. I've checked the power window motor which is ok but does not engage the arm regulator at all.
Thank you very much in advance,
Javier

When you push the down button, use your other hand to help the window go down, just put the palm of your hand against the glass and press down while you press the button. if this works, its the clutch inside the mechanism, you will need to change the regulator.

How do I replace the window power motor in my 1988 lincoln town car, I can see four rivets holding the regulator and motor in place, is there an easier way other than drilling out the rivets, looks like...

Most cars American-Made at least, used rivets to hold the mechanism in place. The only way to remove and replace the motor is to drill out the rivets. You can either re-install the new motor with new rivets or most new power window motors come with sheet metal screws included to re-attach the motor to the inside door frame. Either way both methods are very secure and you should have no problems with it not being secure.

Motor shuts off during the ride 89 Lincoln Mark VII LSC

It is probably in the ignition controle module, this is a common problem with some modules. Once it gets hot it will cause the car to shut down. You can remove it and get it tested. It can be located in one of two locations on the bottom of distributor or on the driver side fender well.
