It might be that your steering wheel is up against the lock. Try turning the steering wheel (yes it will require a little pressure) away from the lock into the middle while the engine is off and the key is in the totally off position with the battery connected.

Not to insult your intelligence but is the shifter all the way in park? You may have an issue with linkage too. Or ignition switch needs replacement, (maxima's are also known for ignition replacement)
Other wise disconnect your car battery for ten min, just leave it sit, after ten min put ur battery cable back on, try ur key again.if you have a spare key work with the drivers door a little with locking and unlocking

1998 Lexus GS400. Key stuck in ignition after reading obd2 codes

Hi,
Do you have the Owner's Manual? If so, look in it for the way to deactivate the Alarm when the battery has been disconnected. This is only for the FACTORY Lexus alarm. If yours is non-factory you'll need to 'google' the alarm brand and 'how to turn off'.

I have towed several of these with same problem. Sounds like to me it needs to go back in for the ignition switch again. Unless it's not going into park. If it's not going into park it would be a shift linkage issue and needs to be adjusted. Chris J.C. Towing & Recovery

Keys stuck in ignition tires not locked it is in

Is the battery dead or disconnected? I've had that problem in another Chevy. With battery disconnected it would not return to the off position and allow me to remove the key.

Good luck!

Key stuck in ignition

You will have to remove the ignition switch (What you shoved your key into) they do tend to seize. To do this you have to remove your steering wheel (Make sure to disconnect the battery when doing this.) It is not suggested but you should pickup a steering wheel puller, doing it yourself will defiantly save you some money, but this will be very stressful at times.

Once you get the steering wheel off you should see the back half of the ignition switch. There is only 1 pin holding that in, disconnect the wiring harness from the switch and start hunting that pin. It is semi small (as the whole ignition switch) once you remove the switch head over to your local GM dealership and ask to buy a new one (These things are not cheap... expect to pay up to $150 for a new one and a new set of keys.)
