Question about 1997 Dodge Ram

1 Answer

My 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel is not putting out hot air, air comes out the vents I select and fan works fine but at best it will only put out slightly warm air. If I turn the fan up past the first setting it starts cooling the air. This happened all of the sudden best I can tell.

Check your anti freeze level.... Also, is your engine heating okay, may be the thermostat? Anything else, find where both radiator lines go into the firewall, if the engine is hot, both lines should be hot, if one is hot and the other cold, you need to look at the heater core..

I have a 06 2500 dodge sprinter and the fan control speed wheel isnt working. Settings 1-4 will not work. I can feel hot or cold air coming out of the vents while I'm driving but cannot adjust it.

I have changed the resistor 2 times for the same problem. Its under the hood behind the fan motor insulation.
Mine burned because of fan motor frozen & stuck in the winter. Solution is to let the engine warm up before turning the fan on.
Cheers, Brian

1996 dodge ram 2500 runs hot when towing

Hi Big Mike, Have you checked the timing? If you have a petrol engine it could be ignition or valve timing which has gone out. A stretched chain could do it. Like wise for diesel. If the pump has been ******** too much it will heat more at higher speeds. The overheating can also be caused by a cracked cylinder head. The symptoms are those which you've described! Regards John

if you are looking at the fan from the front of the truck put your wrench on and turn clockwise. works good if you have a long enough wrench and an air hammer to hit the wrench.

1999 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. 4wd won't work

yes there is a diaphram and it may need to be changed and I hope when you blew the lines out that you put them back where they belong . The problem with the diaphram and the vaccuum lines is that they are extremely sensitive to moisture and therefore not very efficient. I know that you can get an aftermarket kit to switch it to a mecanical system which I guarantee will be the end of your problem. I would also take the filler plug out to see the fluid level, if nothing comes out fill it with the proper fluid till it comes out of the hole then quickly put the plug back in.

Air only blows on floor with very little coming out the defrost or regular vents.

Hope you have the same set up, sure you do. You may have either crossed your vaccum lines or when you were putting your heater/ac box back together or you may of pinched the vents somewhat closed. Cycle through the different zones to ensure the vents are moving as your are selecting (defrost, floor, ect...) If you think the vaccum lines are correct then you may have a reassembly issue with the Heater/ac box. I had the same problem with my 2000 Dodge Ram 4x4. Use the KISS rule "keep it simple stupid" start with the vaccum lines and all your wiring to the motors, make sure everything is plugged in. Hopefully you'll find it there before going back into the box again.
