Question about 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
The Battery light being on indicates a charging system problem. This could be Battery, Alternator, or Regulator. If you get the car running, put a voltmeter on the battery and check the voltage. With the engine about 1500 rpm, you should see 13.7 to 15.1 volts. If you are under 13.7, then you have a charging issue - alternator. If you are over 15.1 volts, regulator (probably built into the alternator). If this is good, then the issue is likely either the battery or a poor connection to the battery.
