the issue with your solution is that the car will not start. Do you know what the fluid in the overflow gurgling indicates?

sounds like the water pump. BUT check your hoses first. if you had a weakened hose, it may have split... but the gurgling issue sounds like the pump stopped. good luck!

When you say "sometimes", whad do you mean exactly? When cold? When warm? When accellerating?
White exhaust smoke (which has a sweet smell) is often an indication of a blown head gasket. You'll need a compression test or test the antifreeze against exhaust gas contamination. Although the compression test will tell you more about the contition of the head gasket.
Where exactly does the white smoke come from under the hood? Maybe there's a puncture somewhere on the radiator hose or heater hose and the antifreeze sprays on the exhaust? Please check. There still is a tiny bit of hope it's not the gasket...

Why does my montero cooing system makes gurgling noise

In many cases of gurgling cooling system, you have a possible head gasket problem starting and the combustion from the engine is pressurizing the cooling system. Check your cooling system thoroughly for evidence of a possible blown head gasket.
Are you loosing cooling system water?
Is your radiator overflow tank being pressurized excessively by the engine. Headgasket problems can sometimes put some much pressure in that overflow tank that it begins to bulge outward.
Check the oil and look for any white/greyish milk shake consistency fluid on the oil fill cap or on the radiator cap. Keep a close eye on your oil and water levels if your gurgling sound continues. This is not normal and again, usually is a sign that there is a possible leak between the headgasket and a water jacket on the head.
Did you overheat the vehicle anytime soon? This will many times breech a head gasket between water jackets and begin spraying water in small amounts right into the engine cylinders, while it pressurizes the cooling system and makes gurgling noises.

Is it possible you blew the head gasket and now you don't have compression on all cylinders ?

Hit a rail hard. pink fluid leak, white smoke from hood and exhaust, loud whine noise, car wont start now

Pink fluid? Would that be transmission fluid? You have cooling lines running from the transmission to a separate reservoir in the radiator. Could that be the escaping fluid? Could the fluid have got on the exhaust and burned, and caused all the smoke? Or did the white smoke come out of the exhaust?
Check your fluids. Do you have pink coolant? Find and fix the leak, refill the lost fluid, and go from there. Good luck, drew.

Mazda MPV minivan drove about a mile andsmoke started rolling out from under hood. I went under car and it looks like a plastic container has 3 holes in it. What could this be? What's that tank?

Coolant Expansion Tank or Windshield Fluid Container

Wouldn't that be something your familiar with,
or you never check things under the hood?

My s 430 has smoke coming from under hood after driving but not all the time temp gauage reads normal. I had oil and trans leaks sealed but it is still happening, what else could it be? Thanks

SMOKE UNDER HOOD COULD BE COOLANT LEAK FROM RADIATOR ITSELF OR CHECK FOR LEAKING TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND CHECK FOR LEAKING BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.LOOK UNDER THE HOOD IF COOLANT BOILING OUT COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG ENGINE OVERHEATING FROM BAD THERMOSTAT OR BAD WATER PUMP.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAK AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE.IF SO WATER PUMP NEED REPLACING.ADD MORE COOLANT UNTIL LEVEL CORRECT.TRY LOCATE LEAK. IF CAR OVERHEATED AND BOILED IT OUT. SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD CAN ALSO BE CAUSED BY LEAKING VALVE COVERS WHICH CAN BE FIRE HAZARD IF OIL LEAKS ON HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD.

First, I'd be looking for a coolant leak. The smoke you saw was likely steam. If the engine was wet with coolant, you need to dry it off (especially the ignition wiring) in order to get it started. Make sure the radiator itself is full, not only the recovery bottle (unless you have a closed system with the cap on the bottle as only access) You can use water while looking for the leak but don't let it sit in cold weather with water in it. After any overheat, it's wise to replace the thermostat as they become unreliable. Hopefully your leak is in a hose or other easily replaceable item. After you make the repair, use a hydrometer (inexpensive at most parts stores) to re-balance coolant/water mix.
If you see heavy steam from the tailpipe or it continually overheats, you may have a failed head gasket.
Hopefully you won't see that.
Any questions or something you don't understand in my answer, just ask!!!

Hello: There are two metal pipes on the back of the engine thar carry the coolant from the driver side of the engine to the heater core and back to the engine. It is possible they may be rusted out. Also it could be head gasket failure, When it comes out check the coolant overflow tank on the passenger side under the hood and see/hear if it is gurgling. The overflow tank hose may be stopped up or it could be the wrong radiator cap. Hope this will give you a place to start. The radiator cap should be rated at 15psi
