The sensor is located on the Throttle Body, it should be held in place by 2x torx screws, they are very hard to remove and can snap off easy.

Use a good penetrating spray, loosen a little then spray again, then tighten them in then back out, in and out slowly spraying as often.

If you snap it off, drill out the screw and get a thread repair kit.

Hope this helps!

Car will not tac. over 3000 rpm

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If that's the case then you surely have a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor). If the TPS is faulty you'll have an erratic idle, idle won't go up or the car won't move at all. I strongly suggest that you have it replaced to resolve the issue.

Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I have a 1991 buick rivera, when i press on the gas pedal there is a slight delay before the engine response, and also it now only shifts from first to second gear only. This is my son's first car and he...

Throttle position sensor may need to be replaced or checked. Any codes? Check engine light on? As the 1-2 shift, the detent aka kick down cable may be out of adjustment. This cable runs from the throttle body into the transmission. It has a button on the cable near the throttle body on cable housing. Push it in and this will loosen the cable. With car off, mash the accelerator all the way down and this should reset it.

I had the same problem with stalling & found the throttle sensor helped. It was only a $15 part @ an aftermarket parts supplier. You'll need small fingers to get to the few screws holding it in place. Also make sure it's positioned correctly before installing & tightening the screws.
Good Luck!
