You will probably need to have the original chip reprogrammed since it was reinstalled. Either at a dealer or an independant shop that specializes in german automotive.

Is limp mode a problem with a standard transmission? I wanna get rid of my cat and was told it could possibly go in to limp mode but everything I have found on limp mode has to do with a automatic tranny

getting rid of the cat converter is the worst idea that has been put into your head
It is there for a purpose , improves economy, doesn't restrict performance and if removed places you in a position for an unauthorized modification that can cost a lost of cash
and yes it can put the engine in limp mode as it affects the engine sensors and that affects the air/fuel settings
And yes problem in transmissions will put the engine in limp mode as the program is to protect a failing transmission as well as an engine

I am not well versed on this unknown engine, but here is something to think about. If you look at the appropriate circuit scheme, there must be a part that controls your Maximum RPM. The Limp Mode is suppose to reduce RPM and Diesels do run at lower RPM than gas engines. Often an engine goes into LIMP when it senses overheating. On some engines, cylinders are deactivated and the dead cylinders are turned into cooling pumps.

Puzzling is the Glowplug warning. This can mean you have a dead short in some glowplugs. This easily can explain starting problems, but your engine will heat the glowplugs for probably 2 minutes or less and then they are off for a cold motor. Even restarting the engine when it is hot will not activate the glowplugs. So I can't see the glowplug problem causing a Limp Mode once you are underway.

It could be engineered to work this way though, and you need to refine the info about the Year, Model, and engine size.

I think I would try to change a temperature sensor, and pull the glowplugs out and test them.

My 2004 Xg350 is stuck in limp home mode.

code p1155 refers to electronic throttle system (ETS)- malfunction===causes --wiring--ETS limp home valve

code p1193 refers to ETS -limp home valve --on===causes --Low RPM
code p0302 refers to cylinder 2 misfire detected===causes--engine mechanical fault--wiring---ignition/ fuel system---injector---ECT/MAF sensor---ECM.
Pulling a battery lead to reset is a waste of time as it corrupts the CPU program. Use a code reader to reset . It is quicker and doesn't run the risk of program corruption

Can rev up the RPM,s in nuetral but it will only idle when its in grear. What do u think

Your car is probably in the limp mode meaning it won't allow you to rev the engine with it in gear. I suspect something majorly is wrong with your tranny. Limp modes are put into effect when you car senses trouble so it may still be fixable without too any $$$. When was the last time you serviced the transmission ( oil and filter change?)

Can somebody explain please what is " limp mode " that seems to be a common problem on older vito`s ?? is the problem specific to one particular model ?? whats the best way of fixing it apart...

Limp mode is what some vehicle computers go into when there is a problem with the engine or transmission which, if traveling at regular acceleration and speeds, may cause further damage. So, in "limp mode", the vehicle can get around, just not very fast. Engine may not go beyond a specific RPM, transmission may only use the higher gears.

It sounds like your transmission is going into the limp mode. The transmission goes into limp mode to protect the transmission from major damage. You either need to take it to the dealer or to a transmission shop to have a diagnostic test done.
