My 2004 Diesel Kia Sorento takes 18 seconds to cold start. OK when hot. I have changed glow plugs and checked them. Injectors seem to get to pressure. Computer shows no errors. Battery is new and turn

is the air intake clear , new filter nothing squashing the intake pipe, how long does it take for the glow plug light to go out once you've turned ignition on ?

Battery is death with change of weather from cold to hot and opposite

Do what I did and went back to using the old fashion fill-able type ones instead of the sealed Maintenance Free type.

The old type live longer and dont die suddenly. Actually the old type battery is very well suited for the Sorento.

You wont regret it, plus its much cheaper.

'04 Sorento, 110,000 mi., shudders faintly when accelerating from a stop. If I take off slowly, no shudder. I drive with 'Snow' on and less shudder. Also, probably unrelated, about 1 month ago I turn...

could be a falling cam sensor or O2 sensor, O2 sensors don't like being cold as it takes longer to heat up and ecu reads it as a fault. cam sensor these fail more when they get hot. dirty MAF/MAP sensor can also affect the engine.

New battery keeps going dead could it be my fuses? 2004 kia sorento dealer checked electrical, alternator - all good how do i check fuses?

circuits will drain batteries not fuses you will need to have someone check the draw on each circuit in the vehicle. start with any recent electrical installations. keep keys out of the vehicle then remove negative battery terminal and then use 12 volt light bulbin between the battery and cable. bright light means power draw. remove fuses one at a time till the light goes out. the circuit that makes the light go out is bad.

Frequent headlamp replacement

Have your battery checked. A weak battery (Sorentos all have lousy stock batteries) may allow electrical spikes to blow lamps. Also make sure your battery cables are tight.

Note: The stock battery on 2003 and 2004 Sorentos V-6 models is a group 24. The group 34 battery is a better choice with more CCA and reserve capacity bit may require minor modifications to the battery tray or hold-down clamp.

Make sure you're using good quality headlamp bulbs. Auto-parts stores with lamps behind the counter are often higher quality than blister-pak lamps from Wally-World.

My piece of junk kia will not start!!

Have the same problem.
It looks like the computer of the vehicle lost the key-code. (chip in the key with a code)
Apparentely the computer of the vehicle will lose that code after being disconected from the batterie more then a month.
