Two whom it may concern, We are interested in BMW Z Series and want to learn if there is any connection between the model names and motor types, like Z4 ? 4000 cc and Z8 ? 8000 cc.What is the meaning of 3-4-8 in Z series. We will be waiting for your quick response. Regards,

No thats's just a futuristic name given by BMW. otherwise it doesn't mean the pattern that ur suggesting.

The Z3 meaning is interesting and disarming simple: Z comes from "Zukunft" , in German means : future. And 3 is the version of the vehicle. so Z4 is series 4 and Z8 is series 8 you might be getting confused with the old type system BMW used to have, ie,a 1994 e36 316 used to be 3 series (model make) 1.6 1600cc, but now they seem to have abandoned that sort of thinking and now for example a year 2000 model e46 316 could not mean 1600cc as they also come in 1900cc confusing i know..but that's the way it has gone, so i digress, Z3,Z4,Z8 have no real significance to the engine size...hope this helps
