1997 jeep wrangler 4.0l , 6cyl, jeep starts and engine runs, but driving starts bogging, choking, even back firing until driving a few miles, then engine idles high, I'm leaning toward fuel pump and filter...

This could be the fuel relay as well. to check the pump/filter you can get a fuel pressure tester from OReilly or somewhere like that. They will let you used it free of charge.

How to replace a fuel line on a 1993 jeep cherokee

Just cut out the leaking part of fuel line and replace it with a same size rubber fuel hose and clamp both ends. That should solve the leak.

1990 jeep idles good as soon as you hit the gas it back fires

Get hold of your engine supplier and ask for the ECU (computer) and the whole wiring from the same Jeep ASAP.

Ask them can you stop by an compare the connectors and pin-out

There are few different between Federal and California emission.

California emission engine + ECU will have more sensors.

Make the call ASAP and take careful note on the pin-out from the org. Jeep.

Gauge reading in red

Well, without being described what the gauge looks like, im gunna take a shot in the dark and say its the oil pressure gauge. You didnt say which way red either. You DEFINATELY need to have it checked out asap. As that will blow up your engine.

There are a lot of different types of fuel pumps available. They can be purchased at most auto parts stores. Most of them are hand type of pumps that you can put the hose into the tank. Just remember when you remove the hose. You have to hold the little spring loaded cover open.
