Hi I have a 2009 2.0 turbo 4x4 insignia, it has done 12,000 miles and the local vauxhall dealer tells me it needs a new clutch and slave cylinder. Seemingly the clutch is burnt out and its down to driver error - what I can't understand is the slave cylinder (everyone is telling me this might have caused clutch to burn and hence be warranty issue) Can anyone help me to understand why the slave cylinder has gone too - they are trying to charge me a fortune to fix it and have already had my car over a week Thanks

Sorry but you are like my friend john ,i make a clutch last 200,000 kms and two set of brake pads in that time and he ¿?¿? new pads and a new clutch in 8000kms ,and the new slave ,yes it could be damaged inside where you keep resting your foot on the clutch ,the seal has gone ,ok us old hands would just a fit a new rubber but ?? dealer?? I know how you you do it ,holding a vehicle on a hill with the clutch ,sitting at the lights with foot on clutch ,changing gear riding clutch so its sounds like a auto ,excessive revving and riding clutch to pull away ,you should have had my driving instructor ,a clip around the ear for not using the clutch properly ,wack across the wrist for holding gearstick and not steering wheel ,the list continues .Sorry this clutch is your own fault ,

Removal and fitting of a hydraulic clutch on a Vauxhall vectra club 1.8 204 model, never done anything like this before! what do I need to start?????

The gearbox itself is no different to cable operated clutches and the hydraulic slave which is inside the gearbox is what used to be the thrust bearing , it is incorporated together and called a concentric slave , I would advise getting this as well as this is a common failure and for peace of mind and headache changing at same time

I have a 98 Ford F150 4WD I have replaced the clutch slave cylinder. I did not replace the clutch disc or pressure plate when I had the transmission out as it was in good shape. I am the second owner and...

It would've been a good idea to replace the clutch while you had it apart.Although the clutch may have looked ok, looks can be deceiving.Id suggest you replace the clutch with a new unit from your local ford dealer and replace your rear main seal while you have it apart. They have been known to develop a leak at the clutch slave cylinder.

1993 Ford Ranger 4x4 clutch slave cylinder

In my experience, the main cause of a problem like this is either due to incorrect installation or not using an OEM slave cylinder! As far as the clutch wear, when replacing a clutch it is absolutely necessary to have the flywheel machined at a machine shop!

Hyundai tucson clutch

Thank you for the request. Since the car only has 24,000 miles on it, I would take it back to the dealer. It does sound like that your clutch needs an adjustment of some type. Since I do not own a Hyundai I have no idea what the actual problem might be. I just did some research and found out that the clutch in your car is hydrolic (meaning that it uses a master and slave cylinder with hydrolic fluid to push the clutch arm when you push the clutch pedal with your foot). Trying to work on this type of clutch system can sometimes be a very hard to do. With the small amount of miles your car has on it, I would get the dealer involved in solving this problem. It could be something as simple as bleeding air from the hydrolic system of the clutch or it might be replacement of either the master cylinder, the slave cylinder and/or the fluid line that goes in between those two cylinders.

Much good luck in fixing this problem.
