Check your repair manual where the vacuum hoses for the cruise controls are (engine bay). Maybe one of the hoses came off or has a leak.

Is there a fuse for the cruise control?

Most cruise controls are vacuum actuated. check for vacuum leaks. This also occurs at the brake petal where cruise is disengaged, check for proper adjustment on the cruise switch.

How to use cruise control

Here are the steps in using cruise control:

  1. Get on a road you will be traveling at the same speed for a long period of time, such as a freeway.
  2. Reach your desired speed. Choose a speed that allows you to move with the flow of traffic and not go over or under the designated speed limit for that road.
  3. Locate the ON and SET buttons on your steering wheel. Press ON first and SET after. Your cruise control is now activated. Most vehicles must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour to set the cruise control.
  4. Press and hold the SET button if you wish to use cruise control at a higher speed. Hold until your desired speed is reached.
  5. Decrease speed by pressing the COAST button.
  6. Push the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control function. If you wish to return to the previous set speed, use the RES (resume) button. You must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour for this function to resume.
  7. Erase any previous speed by pressing the OFF button.

I have a 2008 Honda CRV and for the life of me I cannot engage the Cruise control- I press the Cruise Button on the right of the steer wheel and nothing happens - nothing Help anyone ? Tks Nancy

The cruise-controls have 2-buttons that must be activated before it gets the car going when you remove your foot off the gas-pedal.
The cruise button is essentailly a switch that turns 'on' the cruise servo-motor that tells the sytems that you wants to use it, so it gets ready.
There are other three switches on the right-side of the steering wheel namely: resume accel; cancel; set decel.
To get your car to cruise: you must steady your speed and foot on the gas-pedal. You cannot just press the switches and expect the car to cruise. It takes about two-to-three seconds for the system to respond to a set cruising speed.
How to do it: accelerate to a speed of about 30-mph. Press the 'cruise' button on the dash first. Next you press 'set decel' button. This will turn 'on' the cruise control light on the instrument panel. Then wait a second or three and you would feel the cruise engagement. Any touch on the brake pedal will slow down the car and turns the cruise off. The 'cancel' button turns off the cruise light on the instrument panel.
If you hit the brake-pedal at any time for any reason, and you would like to continue cruising again, simply press the 'resume accel' button.
The cruise system works in conjunction with the braking system of the car. So all major parts of the braking system must be in good condition, otherwise the cruise system could shut off itself.

Cruise control how to use

Most cruise controls are designed to disengage when you press the brake pedal. I always mention this first because people tend to try to press the clutch pedal while the cruise control is engaged and this startles them when the engine revs up all the way...

Anyway, to use your cruise control:

1) Press the Cruise control button to on.
2) Drive up to the speed you need to go.
3) Press the "Set/Coast" button.
4) let go of the accelerator pedal

If the cruise control system is operating correctly, your vehicle will continue to travel at the same speed until you either press the brake pedal or you cancel the cruise setting with the cancel button of the cruise control.

Remember: Your civic is not equiped with a radar system for your cruise control, so if you are aproaching an intersection or traffic in front of you, do not expect the car to know it needs to stop. Also, cruise control only operates the accelerator pedal i your car, it is not autopilot, so it will not steer your car for you.

(you think it sounds silly that I am writing this? You should see my friend's car... He thought Cruise control was like autopilot, so he smashed his brand new civic into a tree...)

Happy Motoring!

Cruise control

The cruise control functions if fitted are on the right side of the instrument pack, next to the odo button and the rectangular panel. The is a flap style button on the side of this and thats how you turn on the cruise then there is a solid button next to that to set it.
