Question about Pontiac Catalina

2 Answers

I'm trying to identify a tail light lense that I believe to be 1973 Pontiac tail or rear side marker. The raised portion of the lense is 7/8" X 7" and it says PMD 35A SAE P1A 73 on it It has screw hole tabs on both ends. This lense was in an aftermarket rear spreader bar on a 1934 Ford. Can you help me identify this lense? I need two of them. Thanks, Roland

Can you upload an image of the lens? Perhaps your internet service provider has an area that will allow you to upload an image, then you can paste the link to this post so I can view it?

It is against Fixya policy to exchange email. All correspondence must be done thru this site. Can you resize the picture and make it smaller to 150KB to fit?

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 31, 2010

OK...standing by. If I do not respond this evening, I will respond in the am if the picture is uploaded.

You may get an email asking you to rate this solution, don't rate it yet. Thanks.

Tail lights not working fuse is good bulbs are good. What do I need to check now. 2008 Pontiac G6

What fuse is good ? Did you check fuse in rear fuse box ? Also did you check park lamp relay .
Park, Tail and Marker Lamps
The park, tail, and marker lamps, including the license lamps, are turned ON when the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK or HEADLAMP position, or anytime the headlights are requested. The PARK LAMPS fuse in the rear fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to the PARK LAMP relay switch contacts. The PARK LAMPS fuse in the rear fuse block also supplies battery positive voltage to the PARK LAMP relay coil. When the park lamps are turned ON, the body control module (BCM) energizes the park lamp relay. Current flow is from the PARK LAMP relay to their respective park and marker lamps and to ground. Ground is provided at G101, G102, G401, and G403.

Hello i have a toyota camry 1992 and my passenger side marker wont turn off ???

That's very odd, because the wiring for all of the side markers are just splices from the nearest park lamp wires- the rear tail light in the rear (and the license plate lamps are also splices from these tail lights), and in the front side markers, they are splices from the nearest park lamps. Do all the other park lights work and turn on with the park light switch on? I would examine the 2 wires from that side marker's socket to the wiring harness it goes into-the power wire would somewhere splice into the passenger tail light wire. The other wire would be a ground wire and also splices into a ground wire for the rear end. To be on, the marker lamp would have to be getting power from some live source. I can't imagine where. Does the rear passenger light work correctly?

In that harness to the rear where the park lamps run, there might be a live wire going to an electrical trunk latch switch, or maybe a trunk lamp. If the wires were frayed right beside the side marker wire, you could have some cross feeding of power between the two. Let me know, we always appreciate feedback.

2011 Mercury Milan LED tail light out

Yes, I have a 2011 Milan as well and both sides of mine went out. One last year (2013) and the other side recently. My car is no longer under warranty and the dealer said they it would be $417 to repair. Ford needs to fix this issue because from what I have been reading it is a common problem and it is a safety issue!

Need to replace right rear brake light bulb. can't get into the area.

Is it the rear tail light itself, or the side marker? I may have the same issue if its the side marker. However, the tail light itself is simple, remove the panel in the trunk side, and there are three seperate light fixtures, the bottom being the main tail light, the middle is the signal indicator and the top is the upper brake light.

1999 Ford Explorer Turn Marker

What exactly do you mean by everything ese works?
Do you have directionals indicating on the instument panel?
do you have front signals and no rear or vice versa or do you not have any directionals and no emergency flashers?

If you do not have any type of flasher you need to replace the flasher relay in the fuse panel.
If you have emergency flashers and your front signal work but rear do not the primary culprit may be the integrated circuit board that are attached to the composite tail lenses. You can buy the circuit board portion seperate from the tail lense and at a cheaper rate than buying the whole unit. Dealers try to sell the unit as a whole so you might want to pursue other avenues first..
