Car reaches 60-65 MPH, then slows down to 35 or 40m/h....changed mission filter and oil, and speed sensor....tuned up

on the off chance check the condition of the cat converter as it may be blocking the exhaust and acting as an exhaust brake above certain speeds
run the fault codes as well to check for other sensor problems

Will not run over 25 mph

check your speed sensor and your crank position sensor. I did a clutch job on my RIO and forgot to plug the crank sensor in all the way and it wouldn't go above 25 Mph. If that doesn't work, try replacing your Mass air flow sensor, it sets on top of your throttle body and bolt to your air box.

How do you do a tune-up

Improve the FixYa experience for everyone by voting.

Modern cars meke tune-ups extremely easy, A major tune-up consists of changing the oil and filter, replacing the air filter, and replacing the spark plugs, I also suggest checking for loose wire, cracking in the wiring harness, and checking the coolant. It's also a good idea to drive to the nearest AutoZone and get a free diagnostic scan and a check of the charging system.

The total cost for the above parts will run about $35.

All the best,

Ben

sounds fuel or fire related.you can go to autozone and they can diag it for free.if you havent had a tune up in a while you can try to replace spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, oil change ect.

Lifter tick

I suggest that you change the oil and use a decent but inexpensive brand, along with marvel oil. Run it like that for about 1,000 miles, drain it then add better oil, new filter and any treatment (I like lucas and marvel...they both do their job) Don't let oil change intervals go much above 3500 miles, unless using synthetics..

Change spark plugs

spark plugs at 100,000 miles,( average driving) fuel and air filter every 30,000 miles, air filter more often if driven in dusty conditions

1985 4Runner 22RE (injected / auto trans) has NO accelaration.

From minor problem to major problem. Try to replace your spark plug wires, rotor cap and the spark plugs, also it can be the injectors, plus if possible, try to replace the fuel filter which is located low under your EFI unit. If problem not solved, then it will probably be your A/T trans.
