Question about 1997 Ford Explorer AWD

1 Answer

Our 1997 Ford Explorer seems to have an electrical gremlin. We do not have the electronic key, so when we unlock car with key, the doors automatically lock. Also, the alarm goes off and does not stop until the car is started. Any suggestions?

Yes, take proof of ownership to a ford dealer and ask them to make you a new good key for it.

Try re-setting the computer...Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and leave off for 5-10 minutes. This will allow the computer to reset. The charger may have interupted the signal or something.

Power door locks; unlock but not lock.

replace switch. if problem on all doors replace master on driver side door. switch has two modes: lock & unlock. Unlock is working, lock is not working, means power is good, individual switches are good, master switch is bad. Replace from used car fine.
