Very easy. Disconnect the battery, get under the car and remove the wire connector and the two bolts that hold it in place. Once the bolts are removed you will need to slide it out of the housing. replacement is opposite of removal.

On turning the ignition key of our 2006 1.4 polo, can hear the solenoid click but the starter motor will not turn. This has occurred previously but after repeated attempts managed to start. No luck now.

You may need to replace the starter, have someone tap on the starter with a hammer not hard but, hard enough, this should release the starter and should make it turn over. If this does not work check the connections on the starter to ensure that the connections aren't rusted. If unable to start starter needs replacement.

Need to replace the starter on the 97 mitsubishi Diamante, how hard is it to remove and replace ?

To replace the starter you need to;
) Note if you have an anti-thief system and now to reset it if the battery is disconnected.
) Note the radio station selections if they are not saved if the battery is disconnected.

) Disconnected the GROUND connector on the battery.
) Disconnect the electrical cable on the battery.
) Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter on. Remove the harder one to reach first.
) Pull the old starter out.
) Insert the new starter.
) Replace the bolt. Insert the easier bolt first.
) Tighten the bolts.
) Replace the electrical cable.
) Reconnect the GROUND connector on the battery.
) Reset any radio, clock or anti-thief systems.
) Return old starter for a core charge refund.
