You either have a bad connection at the socket ends in the rear (bad ground), or burnt out bulbs.

I'm not sure where you were taking the voltage reading. Was it from the socket iteself and then taken before the socket?

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 29, 2010

At the fuse, is there power?

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 29, 2010

    At this point, I would trace it back to the front and check for voltage and/or a bad ground. It is possible that the multifunction switch has shorted out internally for the rear flasher circuit. it is located under the steering column;

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 29, 2010

A circuit breaker would control both front and rear. Your issue is isolated to just the rear. I'm not aware of a circuit breaker on this circuit, just the fuse and multifunction switch.

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 29, 2010

    Ok.....

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 30, 2010

Excellent, I was afraid this was going to be a monster diagnosis on the Windstar. What size engine does the F250 have?

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 30, 2010

The most common cause is the blower motor relay located in the PDC box under the hood. This would be the best case scenario. The other cause would be the switch itself, there is a resister inside that may have failed. Swap the relay, it should solve this issue. I do not have a wire diagram with me at the moment for the F250.

  • GetMeOttaHere Dec 30, 2010

The relay can be swapped with another relay in the PDC, the PDC is a black box with a removeable top. and will have a series of relays and fuses inside. Most of the relay's are ISO standard, and will interchange.

How can I repair a malfunctioning left front signal light?

The flasher unit for the four ways is separate from the turn signal.
If the rear light is flashing fast means the front light is malfunctioning. Check all wiring from the dash to the light itself. I had one a wire was pinched and had broken

1994 3500hd front left turn signal won't work

The wire feeding the front left turn signal is likely crimped or stretched and touching the body somewhere. Do you best to trace the left front turnsignal wire back as far as you can - even just jiggling it might give you short term solution (although it will probably come back).
The fast flash of the rear light is because the short up front is letting too much electricity run through the flasher module. This makes it run too fast. Find the short up front, and both problems will be solved.

When its blinking fast look at both front and rear to verify which bulb isnt flashing. If the right works OK, then the flasher is OK. The flasher is INSIDE the front control module/integrated power module. If you cant find the problem, you may need a dealer to check it.

Turn sign flash fast in front and no light flash in rear

A fast flash usually indicates a burned out bulb. If you no flash in the rear, that is probably the culprit. Keep in mind just because your taillight works doesn't mean your flasher will. Most newer cars have combination bulbs in the rear with more than one filament in them. Try cahnging the bulb in the rear and if this doesn't help, reply back and we can explore this further.
