Put you car in neutral and see if the car will start .there maybe a switch that lets the car start only when the clutch is pressed down. Look on the shaft of the clutch to see if there is a switch it is under the dash board on the shaft that leads to the transmission .

My 1988 camry keeps having a recuring fault. when i turn the key nothing happens, the at other times it starts first time. its got a new starter motor and battery.

When it doesn't start, check to see if you are getting power to the starter from the ignition switch. You could have a bad ignition switch.

I push the Unlock button and nothing happens. The other two buttons (lock and Trunk) work fine.

Your remote has a bad conecton, or battery. If you can take it apart take the board out and clean it if you have not replaced the battery replace it. make sure everything is dry before putting back together.

I have nissan altima 1997. It does not at all crank. It starts when pushed. I changed the battery.

I'm guessing that you have a manual transmission since you said it starts when pushed. Your best bet would be to check your neutral safety switch which is directly behind your clutch pedal. make sure gear selector is in neutral you may try moving the wires around (sometimes they may lose their connection)while pushing the button in and attempting to start the vehicle. Also when you turn your key to crank your vehicle does your engine turn over and just doesn't start or does nothing at all happen. There are a few possible variables if your could describe everything that does or does not happen.

The battery is new. 93 4runner. Turn Key, everything works, turn the key to start, hear the click and then nothing. No clock, no lights, on horn, nothing, as if the battery were disconnected. Jiggle wire...

Check the tremianls on the battery. also follow your ground cable to where it is attached to the frame, motor or body. if the cables are in good shape, cut off the old terminals and replace them with new ones from the parts store. They are only a couple of dollars each.

My 1990 Toyota pickup: normally to start it you press the clutch all the way in while turning the key. Now this is not working. The last time it did start when I pressed the clutch in there was the sound...

Push the clutch down while you are looking at the switch, it is right at the top of the clutch pedal. My bet is that there is a gap and the pedal is not engaging the switch. The sheet metal on the fire wall probably gave way. Check it out, then you can reinforce the firewall that the clutch safety switch is mounted on. Good luck. I just had this happen tonight. Much quicker then tracing wires.

Engine won't crank over,it's a five speed when pushed starts right up and runs good.when turned off will not start when you turn the key nothing, not a sound at all..

check to make sure the clutch pedal switch is functioning and that the floor mat isn't blocking the clutch pedal from hitting the switch, basically its either the clutch pedal switch or something between the ignition switch to the starter but i'd try the clutch pedal switch first, its the easiest to check
