Question about 1992 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

Interior locks I am a public defender intern researching general information about the 1992 Cadillac DeVille. 1) Were child safety locks a standard feature on this vehicle? If so, it is my understanding that if the child safety locks are engaged (on any vehicle), that particular door cannot be opened from the inside. Is this correct? 2) The DeVille in question allegedly had a feature which would automatically lock the doors when the vehicle reached a certain speed. a) Would this feature have been available on a 1992 DeVille? b) Would this feature have locked all 4 doors or just the front 2 doors? c) If the locks were engaged in such a manner, could the doors have been opened while the vehicle was in "Drive" and in motion? Thank you for any assistance!

To set the child locks,on the back doors there should be a peice that you click down, its right on the latch assembly,if you set that to child locks on the only way to open is from the outside, doesnt matter if the vehicle is moving or not

Can't open the back doors on 86 cadillac de ville

Automatic ?? You should be able to unlock the doors from the inside and open them. If someone set the child safety locks you may have to remove the door panels and unlock from the inside of the doors.

1992 Cadillac Deville blowing air but not heating?

There is a damper (basically a door) in the heater unit that is probably not being actuated. This damper allows the air from the blower to be sent over the hot heater core and thus warming the car interior. This damper might be either vacuum controlled or electrically controlled. My 1992 Blazer had vacuum lines that went to it. It could be that you have the vacuum lines loose under the dash. Look for loose hoses or connectors and see if you see an obvious place they might plug into.

Quite often in older vehicles the electric window motor seals allow water into the motor which prvents them from working. If the water has been in for long enough corrosion will cause the motor to seize. Removing the interior door trim will give you access to the window regulator which can then be removed. Can be a bit fiddly but not difficult.

How to clear service ac light on 1988 cadillac deville

I would first reset the low refrigerant safety feature by disconnecting the battery for 3 or so minutes.

Then, I would charge the system with 2 or 3 cans of R134a if equipped with the quick connect low side port while the car is running and the a/c is on the lowest temperature setting (60 deg. F).

How do i remove the power window motor on my 1992 deville?

take glass out of door there are 3 large rivets holding motor to the door they have to be drilled out to remove motor. To replace use 1/4 20 nut and bolt with lock washers. Or buy large rivet gun and rivets.
