After the vehicle sits for a while it is hard to start. It cranks over several times before it finally starts. It takes quite a while. What could be the problem?

Sounds like a hole in the fuel line all it takes is a pin hole and the fuel system does not stay pressurized start it and start twisting fuel lines a look for leaks

If my jag has been sitting for more than 24 hours the first time I try to start the engine takes maybe 8 or 9 cranks before it will start, after this she starts quickly.

Sounds like the engine oil is quite thick when cold so you probably need to check the last time the oil was changed along with the filter.once it gets slightly warm the engine takes less cranking amps to turn over so it will start quicker.

My '99 Wrangler Sport used to start on the 1st couple cranks. Now it takes about 20 cranks or i can turn the key off and on a few timeswithout cranking the engine and then it will start. This is only when...

You are correct. the fuel system is loosing preasure while sitting and then it takes time for it to build back up, you will not smell the fuel because its the preasure regulator valve in the fuel pump, so it just drain back into the tank, this is common on chry, and jeeps. the preasure regulator in the pump is bad, you will need to replace the pump asm. this will solve your starting problem, hope this is helpful.

Vehicle will not start for 15 t0 20 min.after

Could be several problems with a car that old:

1. Weak coil
2. Failing fuel pump
3. Failing crank sensor
4. Failing mass airflow sensor

Your starter could be starting to go south on you.  You are having to crank it multiple times becuase it isn't spinning fast enough the first time to start the engine.  When you crank it several times it heats up the starter and it will spin a little bit faster.  Take the starter to your parts store and have them check it out for you.  They should do it for free.  Let me know if you have more questions.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa!

96 Blazer starts hard

IT IS PROBABLY THE FUEL PUMP. THERE IS AN ANTI-DRAINBACK VALVE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HOLD THE FUEL PRESSURE WHEN THE KEY IS OFF. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOURS LEAKS. TO TEST IT, LET THE VEHICLE SIT LONG ENOUGH TO ACT UP. KEY THE VEHICLE OFF TO RUN THREE TIMES BEFORE CRANKING IT OVER. IF IT STARTS EASY, YOU CAN BET THE FUEL PUMP MODULE IS THE PROBLEM.

Hard starting after sitting awhile

My 98 Jimmy runs on synthetic oil and starts well after sitting in cold weather. If the weather is the problem, try checking that. If it is warm... sorry no ideas.
