Question about 2004 Jaguar XJR-Series

1 Answer

1994 Jaguar XJR 4.0 (Six Cylinder)

I wish to check the tightness of the rear suspension top mounts and it looks like the rear seat might need to come out in order to reach them. If so, can you advise the best way to do this. Many Thanks

If this is the same system as the earlier XJ40`s you access the rear shocks from unerneath.

The lower mount is simply a large (30mm-ish) nut & bolt thru the lower arm front to back, the top mount is held up by 4 small (13mm-ish) bolts going up into the rear floor.

They are then carefully fiddled out sideways & each must be refitted the same way round (the mounts are angled but mark them before removing).

Need help replacing rear disc brakes on a 2006 XJR. I cannot get the brake piston to retract. Does it rotate?

Have you tried releasing the pressure within the brake cylinder. You will need to do this by loosening the bleeder valve or loosening the brake line going to the caliper.

look all the way to the back of that toward the rear of the motor... you should have some access to the drain plug... if there is no access you need to purchase the socket that will fit that... likely a torq type.
