Question about 2002 Kia Sportage

1 Answer

When I put gas in my 2002 Kia Sportage about after 2-3 gallons it starts to overflow as if it has air buildup. I have tried different pumps at different gas stations, and the problem continues.

2002 kia sportage fuel pump needed replacing so we did and now car won't go

There maybe an air lock in the fuel line.
Try pouring a little fuel down the carby and then start the engine, you may need to do this a few times until the air lock is cleared.

Wont let me gas up only a few cents at a time..seem to overflow airlock?

This could be a collapsed filler hose from the gas tank filler or it could be a vent hose that is collapsed. Might also be the carbon cannister or associated valving.

I fill up my 01 kia sportag and after 2 gallons it starts to overflow. There is no obstruction in the tubing. what could that possibly be

ITS THE ORVR VALVE ITS ON TOP OF THE TANK BESIDE THE FUEL PUMP. HOW IT WORKS IS WHEN YOU FILL UP THE TANK IT VENTS OUT THE AIR SO IT WILL NOT SPILL BACK OUT THE SPOUT . YOUR VALVE IS STICKING .

Cannot fill gas tank on 2002 Kia sedona. Even when you only pump 1 gallon, the pump clicks off like it is full. We have taken off the hoses but did not see any blockage.

I have a Kia Sedona 2005 and I can't fill it up with gas without the pump kicking off and I have tried several gas stations. Sometimes I can get a few gallons in with no problem but then it kicks off again and I have to spend twenty minutes dripping fuel into it until I loose patience. Help me!

Can't fill gas tank on 2002 Sportage

Try not to put nozzle completely in the tank. There is an anti-syphoning device that is smaller than the rest of fill tube and can cause back pressure. This can be removed

2002 Kia Sportage won't start. Not the battery...after you turn it off sounds like someething is running under the hood. Cannot get it started to take to a mechanic. I am a woman alone, please help!

Under the hood on the passenger side is a fuse panel that has 2 solenoids that push in. One is the gas solenoid that sends current to the fuel pump to start car. If this is bad your car will not start. Know this from experience because after a mechanic put in a $500 fuel pump and the car did the same thing 2 days later I purchased the new relay for $11. Runs fine!
