How can you tell which engine's in your Intrepid? read 8th digit of the VIN code.

I have a 1997 dodge intrepid 6 cyl. 3.3. The fuse inside the motor compartment fuse block keeps popping. It is labeled as *engine contlr.*. What might be causeing this?


you probably have a bad ECM if you are inclined you can get one from a wrecker and change it yourself, they arent that bad to change. Pull the battery and it will be sitting down and behind the battery tray.

With scaner hook up, look at data scoll to cam and crankshaft sensor, should red yes while cranking engine, but more them likely it's going to be crankshaft sensor, sits on right side of engine block.Good luck.

The Crankshaft Position Sensor is located: Under hood, driver side, lower engine area, mounted on side of transaxle housing

Replacing a starter on a 1997 Dodge Intrepid


No, you can access the starter from the bottom of the engine without having to remove anything else. I replaced the starter on my 94 3.3 myself without having to remove anything else. Good Luck!!!!!
