Have you had the fluid checked? low fluid would cause this, most newer and some older Mercedes do not have a dip stick to check transmission oil level, some are computer checked. if the fluid is full then you may need to have this checked at a dealer or ****** shop.

these trannys are costly have it checked before more damage is done, sorry for bad news ,

Fuel injection needs 20-30 pound pressure to fire the injectors. Try to check pressure before filter. If its low your pump is no good. If its ok then you have pressure drop after the filter. Filter on backwards or clogged.

I have a good one for you. I'm driving down the road and the transmission quites all together. There is no reverse or drive now, what could be causing it.

My first thought is that you should check your vehicle's transmission fluid. If it is low or empty, you could have ruptured a hose or line and it might be an easy fix. Look for a leak, top off the transmission with ATF, and see if it moves, or leaks more.
If your transmission fluid is still full, check and see if it is discolored. If it is dark or black, then your transmission has serious problems.

Ifound where you put transmission fluid in the trans. but i can not find where to or how to check the fluid level it is and auotmatic. 2004 chevy cavalier

There is a small plug (10mm) located in the transmission near where the passenger (right) side drive axle enters the transmission. With the engine warm and at idle, remove the plug and top of the fluid level until the fluid starts to run out the hole.
Not quite user friendly.
Good luck

it wouldn't hurt to have the filter and fluid changed however the rain water may have gotten in a sensor and disabled the transmission then when it dried out it started working again
