1997 jeep cherokee se fuse problem

My jeep starts surging then dies. electric cooling fan comes on, two fuses blow under the hood. One stops the fuel pump the other I have no idea. replace the fuse and it will run for about 50miles then the same thing. I had the downstream o2 sensor wires get snagged and ripped off right before this started. could this have messed up the ecm?

My 1997 Larado starts up then dies. Had diagnostics run indicated fuel pump problem. Replaced fuel pump, igniters, filter. Still cranks up then shuts down. Don't know what to do next.

Make sure that the o2 sensor didnt get damage, check connections and wire,it sounds to me like the o2 sensor isnt reading so your computer went into a closed loop, which is a safety feature which feeds your car more gas than it can burn because its not getting a reading from the 02 sensor, try taking the battery terminal off to reset the computer after you check the 02 sensor, remember you can go to a autozone for a free computer check, yes free just ask

A fuse that keeps blowing means you have a short. Inspect the wiring that goes to the fuel pump. It can also mean there that the pump is defective.

1997 Cherokee fuses under hood

No diagrams? I'm working on a '95 cherokee, the cover on the box has a complete diagram on the underside. On the '95, there are 10 maxi-fuses, and 6 mini-fuses. What is the number designation of the fuse? Likely the numbers may not agree with mine, but I could try to help. By the way, if you have your owner's manual, it would show all fuse and relay descriptions and locations, both the under hood box and the under dash fuse block.

Jeep grand cherokee drives then stops -no power to anything

More than likely you probably have a faulty relay switch. Under the hood you will find a relay box with a removable top. Check the relay that runs the ignition fuel pump. It heats up and then breaks the electrical current and disables the vehicles ignition or fuel system and the vehicle shuts down until the relay cools and reengages.

Need to know the fuse for the electric cooling fan.

Try looking in fuse/relay power distribution box under hood . Should be labeled underside of cover.

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cylinder. You might want to check the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse in the Electrical Power Distribution center located in the black box located just in front of the coolant fill container on the left side under the hood. This is a 40 amp fuse, orange in color and is the orange fuse closest to the firewall. This fuse is used to put the jeep in storage if you don't plan to drive it for a while. Which would stop the current flow and not allow your battery to die. GOOD LUCK!

the fan relay may have went bad...if the fan doesnt come on the compressor will shut down because of excessive pressure...has he used a test light to check all the fuses under the hood and inside... pay particular attention to fuse 10 in the inside fuse box...if there is no power at all to that fuse it may be in the ignition switch

30 amp fuse/ in box under hood

The 30 amp fuse is most likely for your starter. Check that the red thick wire (could be black as well) leading to the starter and starter solenoid is properly attached and is not touching anything that would short it out and therefore blow the 30 amp fuse. The short may even be inside the starter in which case it will need to be replaced or repaired. Hope this helps.
