SOURCE: 2000 Mercedes ML430 Battery Change Failed

you have to resynch your remote once it looses power. the procedure is in your owner's manual. It can also be done from a scan tool but you would have to take the car to a shop. I beleive you hold the lock button and press the unlock button 5 times within 10 seconds and then put the key in the ignition but I cannot remember year for year procedures

How to replace an inner tie rod end on a 2001 s600 mercedes benz

I will enclose some pictures to also help you, First remove the wheel on the side of the bad inner tierod, make sure a jack stand is used under the frame for safety. With the wheel off you will next loosen the nut at the rear of the outter tie rod, just a few turns is good, theres a nut that holds the outter rod to the spindle you will need to remove the cotter pin first is it has a locking nut then there will be no cotter pin, remove the nut and seperate the tierod from spindle, this is done with a fork or hitting the side of spindle with a hammer, with that off you will untwist the outter rod, count the turn so it will be close until you have an alignment. with end off next remove the nut that you loosened that locked the outter rod. Remove the clip clamp on the boot and also remove the inner clamp and slide boot off, turn wheel so the inner rod on the side you are working on comes out all the way, next is to remove the inner rod by unscrewing it, if you look you will see a washer that bends over the end to lock it, use a chisel or screw driver to bend ends out of the way then use a wrench to remove the inner tie rod, the new one is ready to install, use locktight on the thread off the new inner tie rod to lock it and also bend washer ends back over to also help lock it, then reverse directions to finish the job. then you will need an ailgnment, hope this is helpful.johnjohn2_66.jpgjohnjohn2_67.jpgjohnjohn2_68.jpg

The left front wheel bearing on my 1995 3000 gt needs to be changed. how do i changed them, i was told i wuold need an extractor

If the bearing is pressed in you will have to take it to a shop to get them in, but you can remove the spindle and save yourself some money. Remove the tire, remove the bolts from the strut, tierod, cv shaft, and ball joint. To remove the ball joint and tierod from the spindle you will need a fairly large hammer. (Small 3lb Sledge works great). Hit the spindle were the tierod and ball joint go into it. Do not hit the threads of the two. Usually a couple of good hits will pop the tierod and ball joint out. Again make sure you hit the spindle, I can not stress this enough. When they are loose take it to a shop and have the bearings replaced. Buy your own as this will save you money also. Each side on the floor will take about two hours. Have fun

My 2000 Explorer makes a whirring sound when you accelerate - can this noise be due to a bent tierod? The previous owner had an accident involving the front end and was told that the tierod was haywire?

Typcially tie rods will only make a clunking noise or a squeak. The whirring sound if would suspect to be a wheel bearing. When you drive, slowly turn from left to right, if the pitch changes than its the bearing.

2002 1500 4 x 4 Replacing front wheel bearing hub; can't get to the 3 bolts

to start with, that is not a u-joint cover, it is a cv joint. if this is a chevy. you will have to pull the cv shaft out of the spindel. first loosen the outter tierod nut on the spindel, do not take off completely but just so its on finger tight. get a large hammer and hit the spindel right where the tierod goes through it. a couple of good shots and it should drop out take off nut and move outter tierod aside. now you are gonna do the same thing to the lower ball joint. only when your ready to hit that part of the spindel where the ball joint goes through get a prybar under the upper controll arm and get a budy to push up on it. as long as the shock is still bolted on your in no danger. pull the spindel out towards you from the bottom and you will have enough room to pull the shaft out of spindel to get the nuts. you might have to put ball joint back in without shaft in place to hold spindel still to break those bolts loose. make sure you use new cotter pins on ball joint and tierod nuts

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REPLACE OUTER TIE ROD END

Basic socket, set wrench set, hammer possibly pipe wrench,Torch. Jack and support car with jack stands, remove wheel, with correct wrench first loosen inside nut on tie rod this is the nut that keeps the inner and outer tierod from coming apart also this is how you set toe by loosening this nut then truning inner tierod. after nut is loose remove cotter pin from castle nut on outer tierod.then remove castle nut. hit spindle where tie rod goes into spindle hard tie rod will pop out. then spin outter tie rod off inner tierod.*** note you will need to have car alighned after but to get it close count number of turns when removing then install same number of turns. This area of the car is prone to rust so heat may be needed to loosen tight nuts. Dont forget to grease after install.
