The fuel pump is in the gas tank and will require professional help. Have you checked for a blown fuse or bad relay? May I ask, how you found out the fuel pump was not working?

The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. You will have to take the tank out of the car to replace it.

1989 f-250 inertia fuel shut-off switch switch location

This should be in the owner's manual. I found the below on autozone.com, their repair help location:
An inertia switch is used as a safety device in the fuel system. The inertia switch is located in the cab, generally under the dashboard on the right side. It is designed to open the fuel pump power circuit in the event of a collision. The switch is reset by pushing each of 2 buttons on the switch simultaneously (some models use switches with only one reset button). The inertia switch should not be reset until the fuel system has been inspected for damage or leaks.
When the ignition switch is ON , it turns the EEC power relay ON . The EEC power relay provides power to the powertrain control module (PCM) and the control side of the fuel pump relay. Power for the fuel pump(s) is supplied through a fuse link or high current fuse attached to the starter solenoid (battery side). From the fuse link or high current fuse, current flows through the fuel pump relay and inertia switch to the fuel pump(s). The fuel pump relay is controlled by the PCM.
When the ignition switch is turned ON , the fuel pump(s) will operate. If the ignition switch is not turned to the START position the PCM will shut the fuel pump(s) OFF after 1 second. The PCM will operate the fuel pump(s) operate the fuel pump(s) when the ignition switch is turn to START position to provide fuel while cranking.
After the engine starts, the PCM will continue to operate the fuel pump(s) unless the engine stops, drops below 120 rpm or the inertia switch is tripped.

Fuel pump is not getting any power

Have you checked both fuses? If I recall correctly there is one in the passenger compartment, as well as the engine compartment. Try replacing the fuel pump relay, while you're in there.

Transit pump code p0216 how can i fix this

P0216 DTC - Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction and this means the diesel fuel injection pump has a timing failure. This could be that the injection pump timing needs adjusted OR the failure is internal to the injection pump and therefore non-adjustable.

NOTE: If your vehicle is a Dodge Ram with Cummins engine then be aware that fuel delivery problems frequently cause this code. Prolonged fuel delivery problems can cause injection pump failure!

Symptoms of a P0216 DTC may include:
Low power
Crank, but no start
Hard start
Displays an intermittent stumble or miss
Engine may start and then stall
Engine may appear to drive fine but surge at idle

The most frequent cause of this code is a bad injection pump due to poor fuel delivery. Fuel delivery problems could be:
A plugged diesel fuel filter
An in-tank blockage
Air in the fuel due to a cracked in-tank fuel ine above the fuel level
Bad transfer (lift) pump
Injection pump out of time

Possible Solutions: First, simply check if your injection pump timing is adjustable. If so, check the timing and adjust if necessary.

If you think that you may have a fuel delivery problem, then check the lift pump operation. On Dodge Ram with the Cummins engine, the lift pump should produce about 45 oz of diesel in 25 seconds of operation. This can be performed by disconnecting the fuel hose from the injection pump and pumping the fuel into an approved container. Bump the engine over but do not start it. Then the lift pump will operate for 25 seconds. If the fuel is aerated, then check/repair fuel line and recheck.

With the fuel hose connected the fuel pressure should be 10psi. If the fuel delivery tests fail, replace the diesel fuel filter and recheck.

If it still fails then verify there are no restrictions in the fuel tank

Then replace the lift (transfer) pump. IT SHOULD BE NOTED that if this code surfaced after a routine fuel filter replacement or if you have any of the above symptoms after routine fuel filter replacement, then suspect the fuel transfer pump. This occurs because even a weak transfer pump can still provide enough fuel for the engine to run. But when the fuel system\'s prime is lost due to fuel filter replacement, it may not restart again without fixing the fuel delivery problem.

If you found your injection pump to be bad, the lift pump should be checked for operation to protect the new injection pump. This is because weak or low output from lift pump are common cause of injection pump failure. There are some aftermarket kits that can be purchased to warn the operator when the fuel pressure/volume drops to level that could damage the injection pump.

Hope this helps (remember to rating this free answer and leave a testimonial comments).

Fuel pump not working. Followed your directions to reset theft device. Replaced relay (not sure which one it was...i guessed). Replaced fuel pump. Mother-in-law said she heard a noise from under dash then...

The relay only operates after the engines oil pressure is at operating PSI. If the relay was replaced and the fuel pump is not heard working when the ignition key is switched to the ON position for 5 seconds, replace the engines oil pressure switch. That switches 3rd wire connects to the fuel pump to run it for 5 seconds to prime the engine. That switch can be tested without the engine running. Just turn the key to the on position and listen for the pump to run for 5 seconds

Looking for the fuel safety switch

Ford has that option only.. Turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine. You should hear the fuel pump operating. If not replace the engines oil pressure switch which runs the fuel pump upon turning the key to the on position. After the engines oil pressure is at operating normal oil pressure the computer shuts the circuit off the third wire from the oil pressure switch to off and
turns on the fuel pumps rehay to operate the pump.
I would replace both parts since the cost is inexpensive to purchase

No power to fuel pump - 2000 Chev Silverado 2500 series???

Whe you turn the key to the on position you should hear the fuel pump working for about 5 seconds. If not replace the engines oil pressure switch for the fuel pump is linked to this part. Once the engine reaches normal operating oil pressure the computer shuts the circuit off to the third wire from the oil pressure switch which is linked to the fuel pum feed and the computer then turns on the fuel pump relay to operate the pump

No power to fuel injectors

Determin if the injector operating:
  1. disconnect the injector electrical connector and measure the resistance of each injector with an ohmmeter. Compare the measurement with the resistance value Specifications are 11 to 18 ohms.
  2. Replace any injector whose resistance value does not fall within the specifications.
If the injector was not operating but the resistance reading was within specifications, the PCM Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or the circuit to the injector may be faulty.

Check the ignition fuse located in the engine compartment fuse center. Also. check the fuel pump relay.
Note: The fuel pump relay is located behind the radio in the center of the instrument panel.

If the relays are good and the fuel pump does not operate. check the fuel pump circuit. If the wiring and the connectors are
good, replace the fuel pump.
