How do I get to the spare tire on a 1999 Mercury Mountianeer?

It should be underneath the back and you should have a tool to crank it down to the ground, take off the cable and your done.

check your owners manual or supplimentry booklets, if not available a quick web serch should turn up some diagrams. also some times the local parts store can bring up these schimatics

Cant get the spare on


unscrew the bolts.. usualls 6 or seven of them, then it will pull right off..

Cant get spare tire off


The metal sleeve on the end of the cable,you turn it sideways and push it thru the hole in the wheel. If it is stuck to the wheel just pick up on the wheel then tap the sleeve with a hammer.

I can't remove my spare tire on my 1999 mercury mountaineer... it is lowered but im not sure how to release the tire.


you half to pick up the tire on one side reach under and turn the hanger in a straight up and down position and shove it up through rim hole

there should be a crank handle under the hood and an access hole just above rear bumper
