Question about 2003 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1 Answer

My 03 F150 starts right up and immediately dies. Depressing the accelerator does not help and possibly makes things worse. I also hear some sort of grinding or humming as the truck dies.

After 3 days of repeatedly trying to start and keep running it did and has now been working for about 3 days, however it seems that it is taking much longer to start. 3 to 4 sec. on the starter before it finally fires up. The only thing I have done so far is put injector cleaner in gas tank. The mechanics whom I am unhappy with said they would rule out my fuel pump. My next step will be to check carb. and fuel filter.

Hi, the carburator may be dirty or the fuel filter might be clogged. I would take it off and clean it with some carb cleaner and see if that fixes your problem. You should also check the fuel pump which i think is making the humming noise and also check the air flow sensor......

1997 Honda del sol starts but dies immediately

You are not getting enough gasoline to the engine. Causes include: fuel filter clogged (When did you change the fuel filter last?) THat is the chief cause, but it could also be water in the gas especially in the winter as it freezes in the fuel lines.

My engine service light is blinking and it jerks and starts vibrating when I accelerate

Without knowing what size engine you have it could be a number of things. However; the most common problem is a misfire that will cause the symptoms you describe. You can have the engine analyzed to figure out which cylinder it is, or you can start with #1 plug (right front of engine) and unplug the coil on #1 spark plug. If there's no change that would be the coil that needs replacing (about $75.00). If it makes it run worse, then it's a different cylinder. Repeat seven more times, or until you find the cylinder that doesn't make it better or worse.

My experience usually falls on number 1 cyl. Hope that helps. BTW the coil is held in with one 7mm screw and can be coaxed to come out without any major component removal.
