There are two fuses. One under the hood and one inside the car.

2006 HHR LT remote start and power steering not working

I recently saw on the news that some models were being recalled for a faulty ignition switch. (Where the key goes.) It happens for no apparent reason and kills the engine and locks the steering wheel. They said only 1 accident has occurred but imagine it happening at 60 miles per hour. You should call and see if your model is one of the bad ones.

Lost power steering, then car wouldn't start

What is the condition of the serpentine belt? Is the belt free of oil or coolant? Is the belt tensioner working correctly? If the spring inside the belt tensioner becomes worn. It can not apply enough tension to the belt. Also if the tensioner is corroded it can become seized and cause the same problem. I hope this helps but if not please try to give more symptoms or details. Good luck.

Power steering not working. I changed the 2 fuses. When I start the car the power steering work a few minutes and stop. What next.HHR 2006 Chevrolet. braxton.rose@yahoo.com

check power steering fluid level. The power steering pump is powered by a belt, it has a cap which unscrews off the top. Check the level of the fluid on the dipstick. Fill with new fluid to the full mark. without knowing more details, this is probably the problem.

Hey the EPS on my 06 HHR is having issues. It

This is a known problem with the power steering which will probably require replacement of the power steering motor. The HHR uses an electric 12V DC motor to provide the power steering force, and they have started failing.

GM is recalling the Cobalt and other vehicles for this issue, but not yet the HHR. If you are out of warranty, you will probably be personally responsible for the cost of diagnostics and replacement.

You will probably need to contact your dealer unless you are able to replace the motor yourself. Sorry.

Loosing power steering

The HHR is using an electric assist steering. You may need a new column. The column has the assist motor built in. I hope this helps.
Thank You,

Battery draining

We have an HHR SS 2009, it is on its 3rd battery. Just had it hauled in again today. Batteries they are using are made in China Delco is telling me, as long as it is in warranty I will have them keep hauling it. The first time they put a battery in it sat for 6 days and was dead when we went to start it, this time only 3 days. I am not pleased with my purchase at thsi point.
