Question about 1996 Chevrolet Beretta

1 Answer

96 Beretta 3.1 V6 -Yesterday the car would turn over but would not start. I tried to start with starting fluid and it would not start. Checked front plug wires with spark tester and there was spark at the front three. So I replaced the front three plugs to see if it would start then, still no start. We could smell gas after turning over and the old plugs were wet.

My guess would be the crankshaft position sensor. You need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes to find out what's going on.You can start replacing parts, but it could get expensive before you hit the right one.

'96 Beretta has no heat. Coolant level okay. Fan

when you start the car and let it warm up, does it reach normal operating temp.? Does the needle stay in the middle? If not, it's time to replace the thermostat. If it's ok, then your blend door is stuck or broken and may need replacement or repair. when you move the control to hot or cold, the blend door opens accordingly allowing cold hor hot air in.

96 beretta brake light on but car is running fine

The brake light is probably on because your brake fluid is low. But this is also an indication that you brake pads may also be worn and need replacement. The brake system is designed so when the pads are low the fluid will drop in the brake resovoir and turn on the brake light. So inspect your brake pads or have them inspected. A leak in the brake system could also cause the light to come on. But do not ignore the light and find out why it is on. If the brakes are good and the fluid is low you could add some brake fluid to the resovoir but I would not top it off and if the light comes on fairl quickly then the brake system may have a leak.

Won't start

check your fuel pump relay.. if it is not disengaging after the pressure has reached its max after turning the key off, then the relay is probably faulty.
