I have a VW Jetta 1997 with a 2.0 liter gas engine and I was wondering what oil that motor takes. Also I was wondering how to get the radio/Cd player working

You could measure it!

Remove the oil filter and there is a nut that you take off (same threads as oil filter) the oil filter adapter will become loose, continue to slide it off, on the engine side of the adapter is the O-Ring, replace the o-ring and install in reverse order.

The firing order for a 1997 VW Jetta with a 2.0 liters engine is: 1 - 3 - 4 - 2 .
The number one cylinder on the cap is marked by the black dot in the picture below:

filler aperture on front sider of gearbox, usually has a red sealing cap. must use VW ATF only available from VW dealers. oil change quantity 3 liters.

You're in the TDI (diesel) solutions section so it uses glow plugs.
If it's a petrol engine 2.0L then it would be accessible above and below intake manifold using a swivel spark plug deep socket.

sounds like your good olld blapunkt internal fuse is cooked
pull the radio out and look to see if there is a fuse behind the radio

It is essential that you use fully synthetic oil in this vehicle and the oil used must also be compliant with VW standards.

I recommend Mobil 0/40 for this vehicle.

Look in your owners manual for the fuse number and it's location.

Try a VW car and van Breaker. You may need to take the pipe of the breakers car, so take some tools with you. You could try a motor factors other than VW. Hope that helps you.
