SOURCE: honda crx electric roof fault

Hi Paul
I dont know wether you have managed to solve your problem with the roof yet, but I have tried sorting out a simular problem. First off all if you need to reset the computor in the boot , to do this remove the 7.5 amp back up fuse under the bonnet for approx 10 seconds. before doing this make sure all locks are in the closed possition. Also make sure the roof mechanism is fully down. Once the fuse is back in and the key is in the ignition the car will go into diagnostic mode for the boot and roof.
The easy way to check the roof locks is to open passenger side and see if the car starts to beep if so close the lock and the beeping should stop this shows all is ok. Now do the same on the drivers side. After doing these checks you will need to reset the computer again with removal of the 7.5 amp fuse for 10 seconds.
Its worth checking the 20 amp fuse for the power door locks this fuse is under the dash board.

I hope this is some help.

SOURCE: Electrical problems with trunk gas door and ac

the first problem with you fuel door is most likely the rear actuating motor or cable. remove the right rear trunk lining, and loosen the 2 silver phillips head screws, and remove the actuating motor. i would suggest replacing both the motor and the cable, as both of these parts have superceeded to a new improved part. the AC problem is caused by a faulty fan control unit. this part not only receives the switch signal and processes the information to control the compressor, but also controls the fans, their speed, the compressor, and the hi/lo pressure switch. both of these parts a a common problem for the beetle.

SOURCE: unlock radio in 98 beetle

I've had this happen twice when the battery died. It goes into the SAFE 2 mode if you try entering it and don't do it right and then you have to leave the radio on for 1 1/2 hours to have it come on to 1000 and then set it with each number one at a time and then hold down right reset until he beeps on. So, if you are discouraged as I was, the answer is to leave it on with the SAFE showing for over an hour and it probably will come on with the 1000 for setting eventually.

Holden tigra roof wont open, Windows go down, Boot retracts, Back Dashboard goes up then it just stops an the roof wont open, Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening

You need to pump the hydraulics manually, to do this first sit on boot and press boot button for a few seconds without allowing the boot to open. Partially allow boot to open, manually push boot all the way open and closed a dozen or so times to manually pump hydraulics. I had same prob, this sounds extreme but does work and wont cost you a penny.

I have a 2004 new beetle convertible and when I put the soft top down, the car starts beeping when I excelerate and the roof image where the temperature is supposed to be. I do not think it can go down any...

The top on you car is not completely folded back, once the roof appears to be seated keep holding the open button until you hear another click, If this doesn't work it means the roof parked sensor is not working which unfortunately will mean a trip to the dealer.

Convertible top will not go down

Sorry, but there's no easy fix for this.

From experience I'm confident that one of the microswitches or relays which control the roof folding sequence has failed. If you're really unlucky then it's the electric motor (rare) or one of the parts attached to the motor assembly (not so rare). Microswitches and solenoids are relatively cheap, but it's a laborious process even for a pro to isolate which component has failed and often a real job to get to the offending part and replace it.

As a basic guide though, first check the fuse. If it's failed then DON'T just replace it without further investigation: fuses do not wear out, they fail because there's a fault somewhere which has caused too much current to pass through and the fuse is sacrificed to prevent fire or other serious damage. A simple tip is to listen to the solenoid for a click when activated. If there is none then check to confirm power is reaching the solenoid; if there is then give it a sharp tap when operating the roof. This sometimes causes a dodgy solenoid to operate but it will still need to be replaced. If the solenoid appears to be OK then you'll need to trace and isolate each component in the circuit to test them individually. If they all check out OK then you'll need to carefully check they wiring loom, especially where it passes through bodywork.

To do all of this you'll need time, patience, some basic automotive electrical tools and it's vital that you obtain both a circuit diagram and a physical wiring schematic (the first shows how the circuit works, the second shows how it relates to the actual wiring). A Haynes manual is usually essential for this and will pay for itself with the first repair you use it for.

Although this kind of job may seem daunting you can usually narrow down where the fault may lie or even identify what's wrong which will save a lot of labour costs if you choose to get the repair done professionally.

Good luck, and fingers crossed for a fast and obvious fault-finding.

1999 vw cabrio convertible top doesn't works

You have to put hydraulic fluid (power steering fluid will work too) in the convertible top motor. The motor is in the trunk, on the left hand side, under a panel. Pull the panel off and that is the electric motor for the top. You'll see a reservoir where you put in the fluid. Put in the fluid and you'll be good to go.

My escort power hood stopped working

If you hear the motor then you can almost certainly rule out electrical issues, it souonds more likely that the roof panel or drive mechanism is jammed or stuck, If the roof is closed then push up on the rear of the sunroof and see if it "pops up" a bit then while still pushing up hit the button to open.If it is anywhere in between open and closed try pushing it open or pulling it closed while you are pushing the button,if it moves inspect the tracks and lubricate
