The lifters are naking noise because they are worn out or the engine oil is not reaching them due to the oil pump, but due to your cars year they might be just worn out there is only one way to fix a problem like this is to get then replaced there is no quick fix,and also they will just get louder and louder like tick tick tick and it will sound quicker.

Also, if the noise is just on start-up, make sure you are using a genuine filter. Many of the aftermarket filters don't have a non-return valve in them and with the location of the filter 1/2 way up the block, oil can leak back to the sump when the engine is off, and it takes a couple of seconds to circulate and pressurize the system again on start-up.

SOURCE: Mazda MPV V6 engine noise

My strong guess without looking at it would be a cracked exhaust manifold, when it gets hot the metal expands an it doesn't leak.

I have a Mazda Miata 1997.Some time the lifters make sound specially when its hot weather close or over 25c.

check the viscosity of the oil you are using and move up to 30w -50 for the ambient temperature
Mazda engines use a shaft to support the rocker arms and these are prone to wearing out on the under side of the rockers
I would suggest that you have an accredited service shop with experience on you car to check the play in the rocker arms / bushes and shaftys.

When car is on whether driving or idling, it makes tappping noise.

Could be lifter noise...valve cams, parts of the engine, are supposed to move the valves up and down to let in air and let out exhaust...there are lifters that good between the cams and the valves to make sure the valves are tight against the cams, they maintain the tightness even when things wear...when the lifter stops doing its job, it lets a gap form between the valve and the cam, and a tapping is heard, actually metal hitting against metal...this could be from the lifter being damaged, dirty, or starved for oil...make sure your oil level is right, make sure the oil is clean...sometimes a dirty lifter can benefit from a fresh oil change...if the tapping keeps up, damage can occur to the valve ends or cam shaft...you probably wouldn't notice the engine not running as well, unless damage occurred that caused to valve to stop working...there are lots of other sounds from the engine that are bad, like persistent knocking, which is a piston in the act of breaking, and not so bad like ignition knocking from using too low an octane gas...depending on the engine type, tapping could be lived with for years, and sometimes lifter replacement, if needed, can be fairly inexpensive...good luck...

Engine rattle betweem 2-35k rpm. connecting rod bearing was replaced two weeks ago

Have you ever had the lifters checked?
lifters can make a heck of a noise if a lifter is dished and the push rod is got a lot of slop in it.

1993 mazda mx6 2.5 when should a valve adjustment be done little noise is that common 144,000 mles .

the valve lifters should be hydraulic and not adjustable on that engine, either you have a clogged oil feed to them, in which case wynns hydraulic lifter treatment will cure it after a few days, or the shims are worn and replacement means using a micrometer or vernier gauge to measure each shim against the specified clearance and then fitting individual bucket shims to each valve to correct the wear, but try wynn's first, its cheap and works well for sticky lifters.

If the 2.5 has VVT (variable valve timing) it may be this unit thats making the noise, not the valves...

What would be the torque setting for the cylinder head of a mazda 323 familia with a b6 engine, twin cams. thanks.

Remember you have pre loaded cam gear's that have to be loaded, or it will make kinda of a lifter noise but not lifter's.
Torque
step #1 17-19 ft.lbs
step #2 additional 85-95 deg

1997 Mazda Protege: Engine has clicking noise when idling.

Check to see if the valve lifters are not making the noise. Turn on the engine and rev it up to about 1500 rpms and see if the clicking is coming from the valve cover area.

NOISE FROM THE ENGINE

Yinka Denis,

Start by checking the Hydraulic lifters inside the tappet cover below the cam rockers they may be the cause for the noise as this lifters need a lot of oil to work properly
