Need a good spring compressor to replace those. not a safe job for at home.
the noise is probably from a brocken shock or shock tower.NOT SAFE TO TAMPER WITH AT HOME unless you have the proper tools.

What will it cost and is it a hard job to fix a leaf spring ( rear right side) that is bent on a ford contour 2000?

The suspension on Ford Contours (all years) is what is called a "strut" suspension, on both the front and rear, and DOES NOT USE LEAF SPRINGS! Instead, the shock absorber is built into a "strut" that is the main vertical suspension component, and has a coil spring around it. If someone has told you your Contour has a "bent leaf spring", they do not know what they are talking about, or they are trying to scam you! Take your car to a qualified (and hopefully honest!) shop to get it checked out.

Shock or spring

the front suspension on your vehicle will have struts, you should not attempt to replace these without special tools and a hoist. the rear probably has a standard shock, if so, these can be easily replaced but you will still have to support the vehicle on a lift. simply unbolt them from the top and bottom and reinstall the new ones and torque them

Air suspension system isn't working, can I change to regular shocks?

Yes that is a easy fix. These air suspensions go in these cars and your driving on the ground bouncing all over the road. To repair the original air suspension would could cost $1000 or more-it's just not worth it. Buy at the autoparts store replacment Coil springs for the rear. Disconnect your rear shocks. It's a good idea to replace these too. Jack up the rear of the car and use jack stands. Remove all of the original air suspension, air bags, linkage, air pump lever and disconnect the lines and wires. Install new coil springs and shocks. That's all there is to it.
If you are going to do the job yourself buy a Haynes repair manual for your car and same year at any auto parts store @ Advanced, Autozone. Read the step by step in the manual. I have used these for 40 years with all my vehicles and saved tons of cash in labor costs.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Does This Car Have Rear "Struts" Or Shocks?? What Is the Difference?

THe 93 Mazda has both actually. The shock absorber in this car is just one component of the so called strut assembly. Read on if you want the details: Shock absorbers are simple suspension dampers that control the unwanted spring motion of the vehicle's frame caused by the suspension's springs. Struts, or strut assemblies, basically does the same thing, although they are used on a different type of suspension system and performs another function, which is to provide support for the suspension system.

A strut assembly is composed basically of a shock absorber unit, a coil spring, an upper pivot, and a lower control arm. A lot of vehicles today make use of strut assemblies instead of simple shock absorbers for the suspension system. The most popular of these strut assemblies is the MacPherson Strut for the front suspension and its rear suspension counterpart, the Chapman Strut.

Mazda vehicles are well known for their sporty looks and performance, amazing a lot of auto critics when they accelerate on paved streets and highways. Mazda vehicles, however, also has the capability of running on an off-road track without affecting the comfort that Mazda passengers feel; thanks a lot to the high quality Mazda struts they are equipped with. Original Mazda struts are guaranteed to provide every Mazda passenger a pleasurable ride, whatever kind of trail they may choose to traverse.

it should be air adjustable, if the pump is working, most of the time the shocks leak. have a shop ck out the rear shocks, if they leak, then verify that the pump is operational. Monroe offers replacements.
