On the Caravan, there are several "pulleys" on the front of the engine. One of which is called the "tensioner", The tensioner has either a slot in it(that you can use 3/8 drive ratchet, or extension in it) , or a Hex shaped, or bolt head shaped piece on it. And it is spring loaded, for auto adjustment. And in most cases, there is a sticker under the hood that will show you the belt routing diagram.(if not, check your owners manual in the glove compartment). You will need to loosly position the belt over the pullys as shown in the diagram. And then using your tool to move the tensioner pulley back, will give the belt enough room to place it over the last remaining pulley. Then just release the tension that you have on your tool, and remove it, and you should be in business.

My power steering goes out when i drive through water what do i need to have checked?

there is a belt solution kit offered for the caravans with 3.0 3.3 and 3.8 engines, these engines are notorious for having the belts slip, and even come off...when water gets on the belt, it slips, and therefore doesn't turn power steering pump, making it harder to steer.
check this page out.

How do I remove the timing belt cover on a 1994 Dodge caravan 2.5 liter engine

Below are some instructions that I hope will help. Just a hint as far as installing the belt. Before you do the final torque or the belt tensioner, you should rotate the engine (by hand) 2 revolutions to TDC and double check all your marks before puting the cover back on.

Do we need to remove engine to replace water pump on 2004 dodge caravan??? or can we get to it without removing much?

You didnt mention what engine you have, but if you have the 3.3 or 3.8 liter its actually very simple. Remove the belt, locate the water pump pulley, remove the bolts holding the pulley and the bolts for the water pump are behind the pulley. Remove them and water pump comes out. Reverse steps to install.

How do you replace camshaft sensor for dodge caravan 2003

What size Engine?
Most Camshaft Postion Sensors are located on the front of the engine on the passenger side, where the pulleys and belt is located. It is below the throttle intake, so take the Air Connection off. It located between the the power steering pump and the front engine mount. Follow two wires going straight down to the sensor. It is inserted into the Engine Block or Timing Chain Cover. Usually there is a 10mm bolt locking it into place. You must loosen (actually take it off) this to pull it out. The Sensor (is not screwed in) has o-rings and is a little difficult to pull out. Make sure you unplug the sensor and do not pull on the wires.
Hint: Put clean engine oil on the sides of the new sensor (on the o-rings) before to ease putting it back in. Make sure it is properly seated!

How do you change the timing belt on a 1994 dodge grand caravan with a 3.0 Liter Eng.

If this is the 3.0L double overhead cam chrysler engine it is more complicated than some of the others, After disconnecting the battery, set the timing to number one cylinder cause alignment of timing belt is critical. you have to remove all the drive belts, the a/c stuffk, the alternator, power steering stuff, ac bracket, belt tensioner, all that stuff in front of engine cause you have to remove timing cover. you need to remember where everything goes back... After you get the power steering and all that other stuff off, your next thing is to remove the crankshaft pulleys and front engine mount. Then you have to remove all the upper and lower timing belt covers & keep track of where the fastners go. Then of course you have ato losen the timing belt tensioner bolt, belt & crankshaft flange shield. Do not let the cam sprockets move, make something to hold them or buy the tool. instillation, reverse of above, timing belt tensioner counterclockwise, tighten so tht you can put belt on... belt on crank pully first, etc. timing marks on cams are triangle with scribe mark on engine block; on crank it lines up with mark on oil pump... rotate engine a few turns after installing belt so that marks line up every time again, so that you dont have to take it apart. now put all the accessory and so forth stuff back on... This is probably an all day job... Hope this helps you, Rick

Why does my van squeel

You didn't say what type of pump was replaced, water, power steering, or ???
If it was the power steering pump you may be low on fluid or the belt is not tight enough. If it was the water pump it still may be the power steering belt was not tighten enough.
Go to, type in power steering belt and select the appropriate video and it will show you how.

Engine seized driving down road, now won't even turn over

The 3 liter mitsubishi is pretty prone to this actually. You would have to tear it down to see what happened, but yes it's likely that you have a bent valve and/or hole in the top of a piston from a valve.

98 dodge caravan

The 3.0 liter is a Mitsubishi design and is not a free wheeling engine or a non interference design, this does not mean the valves are bent, install the belt and then check for bent valves.
