Hi

A few things, firstly very common on al rovers and land rover is the earth wire from the battery snapps off from the car bosy, it should go directly from the battery " the black lead" to the car body and have a good contact, this is normally around the slam panel of the car and is easy to see if the connection is poor.
Check that first then get back to me if it is not the fault I have a few idea's what it would be but thats the most common.

Regards

Dan

Is the battery good? do the lights dim on the dash when you are trying to start it? how freely does the engine sound when you are turning it over does it sound like the engine is turning with ease or is it more slow and feels like it has no power.??

    please clarify.
    Regards

Dan - It is something with the elec system. Batt is good, the engine does not even turn over, just a clicking in the fuse box. Some lights on the dash come on and flash with the clicking.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul

The clicking is some kind of relay, it is dificult to say which one, it could be for the ignition module in which case the car would not start, however many relays click when you turn the key. I would find out which one is doing the clicking if you put your finger on top of each one when trying to start it, it will be obvious which one it is. Could be the relay for the fuel pump but you should still get the engine turning over if it was that. The relays are small black or cloured boxes inside of the boxes is small electro magnetic switches, they do burn out some times. these are located in the fuse box sometimes behind it but on the same circuit board.

With it being rover I wonder if it is for the cars immobiliser system, that would explain the no turning over of the engine. Also rovers have many issues with the alarm and immboiliser systems.

Replace the relay and go from there. Hope that helps
    Regards

    Dan

I have a 2002 Land Rover Freelander that is stuck in Park. The stop light switch has been replaced with an autozone part, but it still does not work. The break lights are also not working.

This might help you. Otherwise, just find a mechanic you trust and have him or her check the brake light bulbs. It could also be fuse problems. Check the diagram for your lights or check your manual. http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/5166/land-rover/freelander/freelander-transmission-problems

Freelander engin cuts out and all dash lights go out turn key off and back on it stats as normal why

petrol or diesel check the security of the relays and the fuses in the fuse box they work loose.engine compartment. also check the earth connection to the chassis. this is an intermittent fault your also might want to look at the engine earth strap. final thought check the multi plug connection on to the ecu, good luck.

replace brake peddleswitch first, if that dont cure, replace the throttle peddle switch, and if that dont worrk replace the reverse switch on gear box and the forward detector switch for the hill desent. as for the oil warning light it can only be one of three things , ie low oil, bad wiring or switch and last the worst of all oil pump failure.

I have a rover 200 when opening the door with the fob, some times the immoberliser light stops on and the engine wont start, i have changed the battery in the fob worked for a while then is playing up...

rover 200 ,remove fuse F1 in the box under the bonnet and then the immobilisor is disabled.their is a box right up under the dash and you would need to take dash out to get to it ,use the key to open the door because to repair is more than the car is worth especialy in the uk ,car not worth more than a monkey(500)

Directional indicator hazard warning lights on my 1999 Freelander have failed

Indecators and Hazzard lights are the same light and globes but what you have is either a blown fuse or a relay or the most common thing is the FLASHER CAN its the thing thats makes an brake alowing the flash, now it should either be in the fuse box or under the Dash as you would have heard it in the past few days ticking or clicking when they were working .Just unplug it and get a new one.

Let me know how you get on ASAP Ron

2007 Land Rover Brake lights went out

I have not seen these yet but a DII or Freelander there should be a push tab on the back side of the light in the bumper. I suggest crawling underneath and looking at the underside where they mount and see if there is a push tab on one side of the light that you would push inward (toward the light) to release that side of the light. If not, look for a screw or nut. Hope this helps.
