We recently had a 1991 MR2 with the same problem, it turned out that the nylon gear in the transmission that is attached to the differential ring gear had disintegrated and so the speedo gear did not turn.

Remove the speedo gear housing and you should be able to see the other gear inside the transmission using a flashlight and a mirror, if it's not there things can get a little complicated.

The transmission has to be removed and disassembled to get the ring gear out, then the side bearing is pressed off so the new drive gear can be installed, most of the cost of the repair is labor.

keep us updated.

1991 Toyota Camry Broken Speedometer

You need to get that engine light checked out to see if its related or not. The fault is either in your speedometer it self, the wiring, or the speed sensor. Testing them is pretty complicated and do to copy right laws i can not post them but if post your email i can send them to you if you wish.

My speedometer is not working along with my odometer.

If your speedometer is not electronic, unfasten the speedometer cable from the back of the dashboard instrument assy. Replace the odometer & speedometer unit with another one. Reconect the speedometer cable. This should do the trick.

I need a new speedometer cable for a 1991

I found it for $68.32 at the following site: http://www.man-a-fre.com/clearance/clearance.htm part number: 83710-60171
You may also try calling Tacoma Speedometer at:
1-800-6-SPEEDO. I have been told that they will custom build a cable for around $40 and ship it to you.

I have a 1991 Ford Mustang GT speedo problem

check the cable for the speedometer at the interconect. the cable is loose somewhere along the length of the cable. one back of he meter, 2, interconnect. 3, transmission case.
make sure the inner cable is square not rounded. if os, you need a new cable.
