Put new fuel pump on 03 grandam new fuel relay sometimes it will pump but sometimes when u turn the key on it will start and smetimes it want. you can turn key back and forth and it will finally start pls...

Everytime this happens check the fuel pump if it runs. If it does not then you may have an issue with the wiring. Since the relay and the pump is new. If it runs everytime you may need to check other items such as the ignition if there are sparks and if the battery is good.

Check the fuel pressure regulator. You didn't say what engine you have. If you have the V-6 it is located on the front of the engine on the drivers side near where the throttle cable hooks up to the throttle body. It will have a rubber vacuum hose coming out of the top of it. pull of the hose. start the car. if you see fuel coming out than the regulator is bad.

The other possibility is the fuel pump check valve is bad and fuel pressure is dropping off and the fuel is boiling in the fuel rail. It will take longer to start because it needs to push the vapor out of the rail. Once it cools down the vapor condenses back to fuel and it starts right up.

Two things to try
1. when it doesn't start cylce the key four or five times. Which means turn the key to the on position (do not start the vehicle) wait 3-5 seconds and then turn the key off and repeat. The final time go ahead and start the vehicle. You should hear the fuel pump run every time you turn the key on. If the vehicle starts right up you definitely have a fuel issue.

2. When it doesn't start hold the gas pedal to the floor. Then start the vehicle being ready to let off the gas pedal if it starts. If it starts up and then runs a little rough and then clears up it is likely a fuel pressure regulator leaking.

Here is the scenario...I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am V6. I was driving down the road and pushed on the gas, the car started slowing down and I pulled off the road. The car then stalled out. No dummy...

The reason why your oil and battery light came on is because thats what shows up with the key in the on position..that has nothing do do with anything. I would get a test light or volt meter and test the wires connected to fuel pump. in most cases it can just be a bad connection...gm is known for that. and inline electric fuel pump will not work and is not safe. You need specific pressure comming from the fuel pump. and it will not be connecting to an inertia switch(a switch which shuts of in shock of an accident to cut off the fuel pump) its worth the money to get the fuel pump if thats what you need.
but check those wires and connector first

Does the fuel pump for a pontiac have a reset

No but there is a fuel pump relay. If there is power at the relay and no power at the pump replace the relay. It is fairly easy to check Where the relay is are others that are the same, switch two relays and see if the other item works.

It is a common failure item on these cars. That is to say the fuel pump itself. You still want to check the connection back at the tank for power before you repalce the punp. It is not cheap, but check on EBAY if you need one. I just bought a complete assembly for a Tahoe that was only 80 with shipping compared to over 300 at autozone.

Hope this helps

Where is the 1996 GrandAm with a 3.1 liter engine

look under the hood and on the left side in the far back there should be a few switches. to help you locate it..look for a green "square" fuse looking box. THATS NOT IT! the same shaped box but black is the relay switch. look by the wiper blades area.
