Hi,

If the brake light you are referring to is the one at the dashboard, then it is possibly a warning indicator for:
1. low brake fluid level;
2. the emergency/hand brake is partially engaged/activated' and/or
3. brake pads are nearing end of life and therefore would require replacement.

If the brake lights you are referring to are the ones at the rear of the car; then the problem would be the brakelight switch which is attached to and activated by the brake pedal. This would normally be located very near the brake pedal's pivot point under the dash and quite near the firewall along with a spring.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

this sounds like your brake light switch is bad and you will need to replace it. the switch is under the driver side dash connected to the brake pedal arm or the bracket that the brake pedal arm pivots on. good luck!

Brake lights stay on after car turned off

There is a little stopper on the brake pedal that is missing you will need to get your VIN number and call your Honda dealer they should have it in stock. Put a little soap on it then snap in into the hole in the brake pedal where the stop light switch is. problem solved, good luck!

Why mybreak lights wont turn off when car stops 1994 honda accord

Your brake light switch is most likely bad. Under the dash there is a switch that when you push the brake pedal, a pin extends to complete the circuit. There should be a bracket with a rubber tab on it attached to the pedal lever itself. If the rubber tab is missing, it will also allow your brake lights to stay on.
