We had the air conditioning worked on and they added 3.5 cans of refrigerant to it and it still doesn't blow out cold air. the compressor is brand new. The mechanic said when he vacuumed it, it was working well they replaced a switch and are now saying that the rear system may not have enough to run. How much of the refrigerant does this vehicle require for proper use?

Yes indeed, all of the above problems were fixed by replacing a single 10 amp fuse.
    Gotta love an easy fix!!!!

    thanx

Lights or fuse for my speed odemeter guage and heater/air conditioning system

These lights for the dash are controlled by a rheostat instrument control dimmer switch next to the main light switch for the headlights, it is either turned off (have seen this dozens of times) or it is defective. Below is a picture of the switch assembly I speak of. The thumb wheel next to the knob is the dimmer control.

Car speedo & odometer sometimes work OK, other times not at all.

Most likely a speed sensor is going bad (most cars and truck do not use mechanical speedometer cables anymore) most sensors are located near the differential in rwd cars or near the drive shaft on the transmission. Best bet is to get a Haynes manual for your car to help locate the speed sensor. Remove it and take it to the auto parts store so you can visually compare it to the replacement. Install the new speed sensor and it should restore your speedometer and odometer.

ABS, A/c clutch, speedometer, odometer quit at the same time

Its your ABS system. There is a faulty switch/sensor on the master cylinder. It leaks brake fluid into the wires connected to it and causes the circuit to short, resulting in a blown fuse that controls the AC, odometer, speedometer, cruise control and ABS light to stay on. This can even cause a fire in the vehicle. A fire can occur even when the vehicle is turned off. To correct the problem go to this link - http://www.fordwindstarrecall.info/

You might have a bad speed selector switch, or your blower motor resistor is faulty.

Brake light and ABS light is on and the speedometer, odometer and tripometer are inoperable

replace the left front wheel hub assy. with 4 wheel abs. The spedometer works off of the left front wheel sensor. It will fix the abs/brake light and the spedometer will start working
