The MININUM fuel pressure for that engine is 35 PSI check f crimped lines or hoses change the fuel filter and the fuel pump you fuel pump has failed likely due the two most common reasons excessive low fuel level many times this overheats the fuel pump and the other is a plugged fuel filter which needs to be changed EVERY 15,000 miles and forget about oil changes change that oh about once every two to five years i have a 89 sentra 400,000 miles seldon ever work on it cept to change the fuel filter the last time we changed the oil was in 2005 still goin strong 100 miles a day sid days a week.

I have a 89 rs camaro with the 5.0l can anybody offer suggestions on what the possible fuel system issues are with year and model? I've changed the fuel and air filters rebuilt tbi ran fuel system cl

check fuel pressure TBI injection fuel pressure should be 9 - 13 psi.make sure fuel pressure above 10 psi because throttle body need at least 10 psi. in order to work right.if all is good check see if PCM firing the fuel injectors.go to auto parts store buy noid light.to use noid light you have to disconnect fuel injector electrical connector then plug noid light into fuel injector connector.crank engine watch noid light should blink meaning PCM is firing fuel injectors if noid light steady not blinking PCM not working.if noid light dont light up you have open circuit in the fuel injectors wiring.if check engine light flashing have vechicle code scan.bad tps sensor will also cause problem you are having.

Truck wont start till after I spray starting fluid in tbi, then runs fine

check to make sure that your not loosing fuel pressure once your truck dies if there is a leak your fuel system may have to prime itself. Also check and make sure your fuel system is holding the correct fuel pressure while running you could have a fuel pump thats going bad on you.

Wont idle or start without priming tbi

first check fuel pressure with a mechanical fuel gauge that attaches to fuel line schrader valve. around T.B.I. if no pressure with key on check fuel pump relay for correct operation, and also the oil pressure switch has the fuel circuit to it so possible oil pressure switch also. fuel pump has a check valve to keep fuel from going back to tank, so when u turn key on fuel pressure should go up within 1-2 seconds on gauge. if fuel pressure goes down quickly, possible bad fuel check valve, change fuel pump and fuel pump check valve (located right above fuel pump inside tank)

No fuel getting to carburator

you must be talking about the tbi, first check the fuel pump, turn the key on you shaould be able to hear it run for 2 seconds, if not check electrical for voltage going to pump, if working install fuel guage in feed line, you should get about 45bls pressure, if good check for spark to plugs then for voltage to injectors and and signal from ecu

Would like a print and some info on rebuilding a chevy tbi carburator. This is for a 1989 chevrolet fuel injection TBI carburator. Thanks, Jerry

Here is a real good page on TBI

http://chevythunder.com/gm_throttle_body_injection_pg_1.htm

When you ask for the kit at the part store some list it as a carburator rebuild kit and some list it as a Throttle Body rebuild kit. Not much to rebuild, Clean it put in new gaskets and o-rings. There is two different kits one comes with a new fuel pressure regulator and one does not. Best to check fuel pressure and fuel filter prior to purchasing the kit. Fuel injectors should be tested and cleaned by a shop. I found a carquest auto parts that had the machines to do it and cost me $40 for 2 injectors.

Where is the fuel regulator located on a 1988 tbi

Sits inside the throttle body, you would have to open to install regulator. Also check your fuel filter make sure it's not clog, fuel filter is under truck on fram rail, while your there do a fuel pressure test, with a fuel pressure tester, should have 13psi.
