Question about 1999 Cadillac DeVille

Driver window non operable

The driver side window does not go down.can hear no motor movement.all other windows are fine.possible fuse?

It will be the motor or the switch if u are cheap like me take the motor off anothere door and try it on that one if it works its the switch is bad look on ebay and save those parts are kind of high :(

? The battery has been disconnected during vehicle maintenance or for other reasons.
? The power window main switch connector, or driver-side power window motor connector has been
disconnected.
? Carry out the following procedure to resume operation:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Press the driver side power window main switch and fully open the driver side window.
3. Pull up the driver side power window main switch to manual-up position to fully close the driver side window,
and keep holding the switch up at the position for about 2 seconds to complete initial setting.

TWO-STEP DOWN FUNCTION OPERATIVE/NON-OPERATIVE SWITCHING PROCEDURE

Note
? By following the procedure below, the two-step down function is switched to non-operative when it is
operative, and to operative when it is non-operative.

Turn the Ignition on
Within 5 sec
perform the auto open two times
perform the auto close two times

turn the ignition off and within 40 seconds and repeat the above sequence.

Repeat for all the windows.

Electric windows dont move up or down on my honda accord


If the windows don't work, any of several issues is likely to blame, including no electricity, bad switches, bad motor, damaged window regulator, or even a broken wire.

Automotive power windows use a switched motor to operate a mechanical window regulator. This regulator moves the pane of glass into the door.

To check and confirm the fault try this procedure:--

1) Open the fuse panel and check the fuses for disrupted elements. The fuse panel at the driver's side kick panel, or between the dashboard and the door. In some cars the fuses are mounted in the engine compartment, in front of the driver's side firewall. Check the fuses and replace if faulty.
2)
Test the wiring harnesses from the fuse panel to the switches and from the switches to the window regulator motor. If the circuits test fine, then proceed to the next step. If a wiring harness is shorted or damaged, it will need to be replaced.3) Remove and test the switches on the driver's side door panel. Pry them up with a screwdriver and pull them free of the panel's opening. Disconnect the switch assembly from the wiring harness by pulling the adapter plug from the assembly. Test the switches individually by touching both sides of one switch with the circuit tester. Each switch will have two terminals, and if the tester is positive on both terminals while the window is activated, then the switch is good. Replace the switch assembly if any of the switches fails the test. Most power window switches come in assembled modules and cannot be replaced individually.4) Remove and test (if possible) the power window motor. Turn the armrest bolts and interior door handle screws counterclockwise, then pull the door panel free from the pop rivets. Behind the panel are a window regulator, the window glass, and the electric driver motor. The motor is usually located in the lower right section of the door. Unplug the motor from the wiring harness and unbolt it from the window regulator by turning the bolts counterclockwise. Pull the motor straight out, away from the gears. And check out if motor is receiving exact 12 volts at the terminals. If not then either motor is faulty or there is a confirm short if motor is replaced.

5) If all the above mentioned possibilities are checked out ok then the window regulator needs to be checked. Inspect the window regulator's joints for rust or stiff movement, if the electrical system is operating correctly. These joints can corrode or break, causing the window to stop working. With the door panel off, the window regulator can be removed and replaced by sliding the glass away from the track mounts, then turning all mount bolts counterclockwise and manipulating the regulator out of the door.

Power window does not work. Motor was replaced about a month ago. Now what? I also can not find the fuse for the windows....(2004 G35)


Yes, you went a long way, if you check the fuse box, there should be a look alike relay with a little hole in the center, stick a paper clip and push it inside you will hear a click, thats a circuit breaker, after doing this try your windows.

Driver's side window will not open or close automaticaly. Has to be pulled up and down by hand


Check the wiring and connectors supplying the driver-side window motor and also the fuses in case each window is fused seperately. The electric motor may have failed. When you operate the switch do you hear the motor working?

Power window blows fuse


Problem fixed as follows:
Purchase a package of five 30 amp ALC type fuses. Replace blown fuse #8 (30 amp). Perform the following test to determine if the problem is isolated to the driver-side front window.
-One at a time, (i.e. only push one window switch button at a time) operate each of the other three windows (passenger side and rear driver side), to determine if the problem is occuring only on the driver side window. If any of them blows the fuse, replace it with a spare and proceed to test the next window. Repeat for each of the three windows. The process described below may also resolve the issue on the other windows if any of them blew the fuse during this test.
-Now, operate the switch for the driver side window. It is expected to work for a brief period (<1sec), but may very quickly blow fuse #8. Replace fuse #8 with one of the new 30 amp ALC fuses.
Remove the door panel, by sliding the speaker forward and removing the three white clips on the bottom of the panel. Also, pry out the screw clip in the panel well, just to the rear of the switch assembly, and remove the plastic bracket that holds in the switch assembly. The panel can now be lifted off.
To access the window mechanism, remove the tape over the oval cutouts near the top. Also, temporarily pull back the white plastic cover over the bottom of the door. Disconnect the white electrical connector near the center of the door (has only a red and black wire for the regulator motor). Using a small battery (motorcycle battery) and jumper leads test the mechanism's operation by connecting the battery directly to the motor wires. Use insulated test clips on the male connector and be careful not to short the clips together. The window mechanism should operate, and by interchanging the jumper wires (reversing battery power polarity), you can make the window go both up and down. Only do this for brief periods of time, as the motor circuit is now uprotected, i.e. there is no fuse in this test circuit. If the movement of the glass seems strained over part of the travel path, apply WD-40 lubricant to the metal rotating pivot point. Also apply silicone spray to the rail guides for the sides of the glass (with the window in the up position) and to the metal horizontal tracks and plastic wheels near the top of the mechanism. Also, spray some silicone lubricant along the bottom of the window on the outside, just above the rubber stripping, and operate the window a couple of times. An up and down test should now result in very smooth and even window movement. Reconnect the motor power wire to its mating connector, replace the tape and white plastic cover, and then replace the door panel. The mechanism should work smoothly, and the fuse should not blow. Total cost: $3.03 for fuses and a little WD-40 and silicone spray which you probably keep on hand.
