Question about 1999 Dodge Ram
I have a 99 Dodge Ram 2500- Cummins, 2 wheel drive, 5 speed manual trans.
I had the slave cylinder replaced approx. 9 months ago. Lately, it's getting harder and harder to shift.
Master and slave cyl come as preassembled unit. No way to bleed it. If someone said they changed slave cyl...they maybe pulling your leg. You have to change both at same time. Usually around the $250 for parts alone.

Before I changed the clutch and pressure plate I would have the master cylinder looked at, In my experiance its sounds like It could be either the Master or the Slave One or the other, If its What your saying Getting harder to shift is usaually has to do with what I said it would be. If it where your clutch or pressure plate you would not be able to Pull anything or it would Slip when accelerating and you would not be able to go up steep hills without it slipping thats a sign of the clutch and pressure plate going out. But what you explained it sure sounds like your Master or Slave Cylinder Try bleeding system and see if you get your clutch back. I am sure you will see thats the problem. Should save you a lot of money too. Most service stations will not change the Slave or Master when Changing a Clutch and Pressure Plate so if you have that done make sure you ask them to maks sure they change it, And if you don't and just do the Master or Slave, I am sure it will work. I have seen many parts bought from a parts store go bad in 6 months too. Always buy lifetime parts Just in case of what has happend to you. sure hope that saves you some cashola. Thanks for using Fix it
