number 4 misfire check either plug or coil --as to jerking if vehicle is not running correct [misfire ]it will not drive smooth trac light --it can be related to the misfire or check abs and brakes and power braking will set off traction control and puts a strain on brakes and c/v axles
Have the car scanned for trouble codes at a local auto parts store for free. If it is related to a wheel speed sensor, the sensor is replaced as part of the wheel hub assembly. Normally, the wheel nearing makes noise that gets louder as the parts go bad. The wheel speed sensor picks up these vibrations before they can be heard. The abnormal noises confuse the abs and traction control computer. An easy way to verify this condition is that when you first state the vehicle, all the trouble lights are dark. Once the vehicle starts moving, the light show begins.
Wheel hub swap on this vehicle can be done in one day on both front wheels. Typically, when one side fails, the other is not far behind.
i think is the catalitic converter it stok .thake off and cleane it whit a solution for that. and change the oxigen sensor maiby it durty .and give me some news thank mike 66
first if the cap was going bad there would be a check engine light on, system is pressurized, unless you have a check engine light, it may because you over fill it
try taking off the positive battery cable for 10 min then put it back on,start the car and see if the lights reset. some auto part stores will put a OBDll code reader on for free to see what codes come out.....
well the best bet is get a reading on the codes and go from there, get the codes that will guide u on whats goin on with the check engine and the the traction
The check engine light may not be a big deal if your Jeep is running OK. The bad news is that the airbag light has to be taken seriously.
It is normal for the airbag light to come on when you start your car and then go off in a few seconds, when the system is performing a self-test .When your airbag light stays on, it means that the circuit that controls airbag deployment has detected a problem. You need to have this looked at by a good mechanic, or preferably a Jeep dealer as soon as possible. It is possible that when there is a problem with the airbag circuitry that it can deploy without warning and can cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
I do not recommend that you try to work on any airbag system yourself. The actuators contain small explosive charges that can seriously injure or even kill you. The system is designed to store an electrical charge and airbags can be set off even with the car battery removed. If you set your airbag off and are fortunate enough to not get hurt, replacing it will cause enough pain- $2000 is not unusual.
As far as the check engine light goes.... under the fusebox (near the drivers left knee area) you should see an electrical connector. You can go to any good auto parts store and ask to borrow their ECM analyzer- a handheld device that plugs into that connector and will allow you to read the computer codes that are turning on your check engine light. Just follow the instructions that come with the analyzer.
If you get an ambiguous reading like "factory code" chances are that it is fuel related and changing your brand or grade of gas will usually fix it. While you have the ECM analyzer connected, you can clear the codes and see if the light comes back.
I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee and during the winter, one certain brand of gas will cause the check engine light to come on in the winter. This is because federal and state clean air laws require that in winter months, the gas formulation be changed to help reduce emissions... and different brands actually DO have different formulations. Try a different brand gas for a while. Also, if your Jeep has the "straight six" engine, it is very important that you always run only regular grade- this engine (IMHO one of the best engines ever made!) does not like higher octane fuel and using mid-grade, or especially premium, will give you a check engine light, along with reduced gas mileage.
Engine light on means that your lambda probe is malfunctioning just raplace it and it will come off,or the mixture of gases and gas is not proper and you need to tune the car at bosch motronic.
traction control warning light means that the sensors analizing it are malfunctioning and or you have a serious problem on the traction control
An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.
