Question about 2008 Nissan Versa

1 Answer

2007 Nissan Versa SE sedan

Hi My car blows the fuse when after i plug in my cell phone (Verizon) or the GPS in the power outlet. I took the car to the Dealer, and couple weeks later the fuse blew again. We replaced the fuse about 7 times in a year. The dealer said it was because we had verizon and that makes the fuse blow! Have you ever heard of anything like this? Thanks for any help you can give. Bill

If your phone is drawing more amps than your fuse is rated for, then the diagnosis is correct. If you are plugging it into your auxiliary power port try increasing the amp rating of the fuse. IE; 15amp to 20amp

Stop plugging into the console power point with whatever it is that you keep plugging in that is blowing the fuse. The truck is not the CAUSE of the problem. Your defective accessory is. (cell phone charger, radar detector, GPS unit...whatever it is...?)

Probably a 15 to 20 amps..If you use the cigarette lighter does it also blow the fuse ,you may have a short in the circuit..It should be able to handle the GPS..Dont increase the fuse size, you can cause bigger problems

pqtrahan, I don't know where the fuse is located, but, my advice to you is to test all the fuses in the passenger and engine compartment and replace any that are bad. You may find what you are looking for. Good luck with this.

RAV4 Charging Cell Phone Causes Fuse to Blow

have never heard of a vehicle that can't be used to charge a cell phone but if that's what the dealer said, they usually know something about the vehicles they sell. i can suggest a work around but it might be you won't like it. you can buy a 12v jumper pack, it's really just a battery in a plastic case that can be used to jump your regular 12v car battery in the event that you can't get the car started from the regular battery under the hood. they are available in a few different sizes, they have them at car parts stores and dept. stores, you plug it in at home and it charges up overnight, then take it in the car with you just in case. every one of these that i have ever seen has a 12v outlet on them. some of these are quite heavy but you don't need a big one and you probably won't need to charge it more than once or twice a week just running a cell phone charger off it. i will admit that it is not as convenient as plugging it into your car but it won't blow a fuse and i'm pretty sure it would work. hope that helps

1996 Cavalier 12 Volt power outlet in car doesn't work right?

Even thought the plug in is 12 volt. It's ouput is different. Most electronics have different ranges from 3-9 volts.
Does the 12 volt charger put out 12 volts? If so, it would burn up the electronics' capacitors on their power supplies.
How is the car's electronics doing? Are they too failing? If so, that would be a faulty voltage regulator, if not, I would hook up anything you use to the radio wires.
You cannot plug in anything directly to battery no matter what the person told you. Batteries charge, than release charge, a contiuous cycle. The power output is speratic and anything hooked straight up to the battery will need a fuse.

ACCESSORY POWER OUTLETS

I have a 2004 ION and the fuse is located behind the drivers side center console kick panel. The panel can be removed by tristing the large blastic screw near the left top of the kick panel. You can use a coin to do it. Once the panel is off relace fuse F20 and your god to go.
