After another dealer checked out my car, it was determined it truly isn't the transmission. The bad news is that it's still having problems, and getting worse. As it's worsening it's becoming apparent that it's related to when the air conditioning is on. It splits and sputters and acts like it's gonna stahl, then it "catches" and jumps forward. It's not giving any indicators on the dash though - so my extended warrenty people say that whatever it is will not be covered because the computer isn't detecting any problems! So it's 103 degrees and I don't use the air...sorry to vent but very frustrated!

If it's the engine mount , then it is the point where the engine is connected to the frame ..usually 3 places..usually 2 on one end and one where it connects to the transmission. That;s the way it used to be....a few years ago.

How to replace a rear motor mount on a 2003 outlander Mitsubishi

There is no printed detailed instructions that I am aware of. A car repair manual from your auto parts store may give some insight. Usually, most techs will size up the repair visually and remove necessary components to access the mount. The engine may have to be raised slightly for removal of the mount. Experience in auto repair is the biggest asset in this type of repair

Can the brake and clutch pedals be extended

Larry have you tryed the seat up as far as you can the bench seats in rangers are sometimes difficult to more forward with out two people. The olny other thing i can tell you is to put a block on the cluch pedal the problem it you would likely have to disgin it and mount it your self i don't know of any company that offers this if you look you may find one but makeing the pedal longer isn't going to solve the problem it needs to be closer to your foot. Good luck Larry

I have a 91 ford taurus-3.0 engine. my mounts keep on coming undone due to a combination of problems my mechanic told me I should chain my engine down. How would I go about doing that?

Chaining the engine down is a bandaid and a bad idea unless you have a hot rod with 600 HP, there is a reason the mounts are coming undone (don't understand "mounts keep on coming undone due to a combination of problems" ) fix or replace broken mounts, don't forget the transmission mount, If you fix it right it won't mess up other things later like CV joints

Put in new starter on 1987 pontiac 6000 and all it will do when turn over key is a click

You may need to put a shim between where the starter mounts. GM's are famous as the teeth for the starter don't quite match up with the flywheel and when the gear in the start goes out it might not be far enough awy and will just hit the flywheel and not match up the teeth. If you go to your local auto parts store and ask for it they will know what you are talking about as this is very common. you can go underneath and have someone turn the key to see if it's just hit the flywheel and not matching up but may need to remove the cover to see. When or if you get a shim I think you will understand the concept better. Did my best to explain but not the best and making people understand. Sometimes it takes more then one shim to make it right. I hope this helps and wish I had a picture. good luck.

I understand that '86 4Runners were built on a Toyota pickup chassis. What model pickup was that? I'm looking for a trailer hitch, but catalogs don't list the '86 4Runners. They start at '87s. So I...

If what you say is true. The only pickup it could possibly be is the Toyota Pickup. CURT offers the 13086 hitch for the 84-95 light pickups. If there is a lot of rust, this is going to be rather difficult as the bolts mounting the bumper will more than likely need to be cut. I can't find any information confirming fitment, but i'm sure this is your best bet. Custom fabrication would be your only other option.
